I bought some used Trenga 2+1+ (Diamond Racing actually makes them). Ordered some new ball joints for the ones that were bad. The others were fairly new. Well anyways, went out to the motocross track to practice, and jumped a 30ft double, when I landed one of the old ball joints snapped. When it snapped it sheared the bolt off, and the entire top of the stud. I've been racing/riding for quite some time and owned many arms, what the hell caused this? Keep in mind these were ball joints intended for ATV racing, not automotive ball joints. They were also torqued to spec and the cotter pin was correctly placed in.

As soon as I get the camera from my sister I'll take a pic. Does anyone on this site own diamond racing/trenga arms and have heim joints. I think it's time for an upgrade. Lemme get some pics so ya'll can help me locate the correct size necessary.

First of all were glad your ok.

Call them and raise some hell. Pretend like you almost died or were seriously hurt (I dont know if you did).

They might offer you a new set for free. Sell them and buy different ball joints.

^ do that. flip sh*t on them and show them pictures. if there acualy the trenga ones, not sure what they would say because trengas out of business, but if its still the same design, talk to them. just a sh*ty build quality. buy some nicer ones unless there specific.

You replaced a couple of the ball joints but not all of them? American star racing sells alot of different ball joints as well as heim joints that will fit different a-arms. Check out there site

Have had a set of those arms since 1999, replaced the joints once and never or have ever heard of a failure with his work or the ball joints. You bought these used? Do you know anything about the person that had these before?

^^^ Im thinking that too Phragle, almost seems as if something was really bound up and stressed to a point of fracture from a jump that small. If the spring didn't actually compress at all or maybe only a little bit I could see that happening, but too just snap off seems strange.
