I recently purchased a 01 blaster in need of major rebuild all around. someone tryed to rattlecan over the original silver frame and stoped after they finished the right side of it. so its different colors on each side. well one of my buddys said he had a friend who sandblast, and that he'd do it for like 50 bucks, everything swingarm, a arms footpegs, frame. all the good stuff. well he called me today to take it to him and now hes saying he wants 115. i know of a actual sandblasting bussiness around here and they charge 95$ an hour. well my question is is 115 worth it, and was i just expecting to get out real cheap on this. or is it a decent deal.

idk do you need sandblasting ? im getting bolt polishing + pc + paint stripping ...for 400 CAN

i figured it was the quickest easiest way. i stripped a frame on a warrior before, and i didnt want to get into that again. i have one of the quick feed gravity sandblasters that runs off aircompressor that holds like a pound of sand, i may just use that. sand will cost me like 10-20 bucks. i was thinkin a blasting job was prety cheap

Dude, pick yourself up some paint stripper, $8 a bottle and spray it down with that. Wait ten minutes and pressure wash it off. Youll be done in 20 minutes, and it will be the bare frame.

mine is the small handheld one, the hopper dosent hold very much sand and after you shoot for about 30-40 seconds, its out, it works good for little projects, but not a frame, i may put some stripper on then touch it up with my little blaster. i didnt want any problems with the paint not adhering bc of the stripper. ive read a few stories that went that way

thanks

Yeah i get what you mean but ive done plenty of stuff with the paint stripper and my stuff came out great! Just make sure you get it ALL off. Before paint, wipe it down with some mineral spirits and then take an air compressor to it.

it would take them less than a hour to do that stuff if they have a big industrial gun..but they might have a book of times for parts.. it would take them very little time to do it all

i tried searching and didnt want to make a new thread for this but does anyone know if/where there is a diy or any kind of information on 400ex rear shock and banshee front shock...setup and modifcations needed. i think somone said there was a diy for the banshee but cant really find anything. i want to do this while i have eerything apart but before i bid on anything i wanna make sure its not gonna require too much fab work

banshee fronts need no mods a 400ex needs slight mods but will raise your rear end a inch or two and can be kinda stiff if your a light rider. and if you are a 250r shock will work better and is easyer to mod to fit

also on the back to the sandblasting, i just found a guy on CL that does a blast and PC job on just the frame for 120...i emailed him for a quote on the rest of the things i need, i was just gonna have the painters at work spray em with that FORD vapor silver one day when they got a little extra but i guess will see

My local sandblasting business was only $60 for the frame and a few other parts.I ended up doing it myself. If you have a compressor just go to sears and buy one of the economy sandblasters and get some glass bead or black beauty for it and you are good to go.It will be cheaper and you can do it as many times as you want.
