Rough dimensions of belly skid??

Or the engine/frame skid, undercarriage skid...whatever you call it. Not the swinger skid! I'm looking for the longest dimensions (longest point, widest point) because I'm interested in making one from some 1/4 to 3/8" thick plastic. It won't help support the frame so much, but will be perfect for sliding over stuff.

Not sure of the measurement but I just made one out of stainless a couple weeks ago by standing my bike up on the grab bar and tracing a cardboard template.

If I wasn't lazy I'd dig my blaster out of the snow and do the same....

What did you use to mount it?? Did you make up little clamp arms like they use with the store bought belly skids?

I just used hose clamps. I try to take some pic's tomorrow and see if I can figure out how to post them.

i used 1'' emt clamps from lowes to hold them on havent rode it good to se how they hold up though

That's exactly what I'm planning to do...maybe not diamond plate, but that's the idea.

Are the clamps that you're talking usually used for conduit? I guess they should do the trick, eh?

thats exactly what they are for my step dad was an electrician for 30+ years an he said they were kinda weak so i might have to try something else if they dont work out so far no problems yet

id like to get the measurements on that, i like the diamond plate, its looks good.

They aren't the strongest things on earth, but they're cheap and readily available. If you just carried a few extras with you, if there was an issue you could fix it quick.
