I got the FMF gold Series pipe off this project blaster..and its a bit rusted up... its more then likely a stupid question... but can i get the rust off and get it either shiny again.. or even better since im going to make this blaster black base... could i repaint the exhaust with some sort of high heat safe black paint to black it out???

Cheers

yes you can if the rust is just surface rust.

i did that on my girls exhaust. it was a DG pipe.

took a wire wheel to get off all the flaking chrome and rust. you might have to sand it also.
then just got some high temp 1500F black paint and painted it.

i will look for the pictures of it and post them up

here is the silencer

i was just reading about it flaking off.. but i think it was more for car pipes that i was reading about... mine isnt rusted nearly that bad... but still its seen a better day... i guess it would be very similar to the black bbq paint they sell at the depot...

Thanks for the quick reply..

Cheers

if there isn't any pitting or rust holes, you will be good.

also use the high temp header paint. dont use the grill paint.

i used some high temp exuast paint on the headers of it and it works great faded a lil but held up great id just get that for trucks im sure there headers get way hotter so id try that

I painted mine once with krylon high heat grill paint, I thought it looked pretty sweet.

Only problem is paint like that requires heat to harden, a 2stroke pipe doesn't get very hot... the only place it will fully harden is the header section before it gets fat, so it will chip.

If you had a way to bake it that would solve the problem.... maybe a heat gun and some patience lol
