ive got everything torn down to nothing the engine ran strong but i want more power and i pulled the head off and the piston has one deep 1'' long scratch. what should i do to my engine to get the most power but keep it cheap sort of. im already getting a pipe reeds and air filter. also im gonna repaint everything im thinking white plastics anodized orange with black and blue accents but im not sure yet any ideas?
Do a leak down test before you tear it down, OOPS, too late for that...
A leakdown test would have told you if the main seals or any gaskets needed to be repaired.
A compression test would have told you if that piston or the rings needed to be replaced.
Compression over 120, you are probably OK, even with the scratch.
Check the piston to cylinder clearance and check for piston cracks. Replace if bad.
Air filter is a good idea, will keep from getting more scratches.
More power?
Get your head rechambered, best bang for your buck. $60 and you can fly!
Shove an extra (yup, 2 ) basegasket under your cylinder, check and correct the squish, and the old girl will fly.
Keep the stock carb, and even the stock pipe, but remove the filter lid (but save it!).
Less than $100 and double the HP.
