the rear brakes on my 1994 blaster don't work. i can hear them trying to go in and out. if i tighten the 3 allen bolts completely, the brakes sieze, back them off a little the work until the bolts loosen. I have tried adjusting them, and it seems like they just don't get there. There also seems to be a lot of play in the cable at the peddle end. It is the stock cable on it now. This is my 1st wheeler, i am learning as i go. I do have the service manual for it. I don't really have the funds to replace it at 200 bucks or to go to hydraulic. Do you guys think the "shorty" cable will solve the problem. I have also seen where i can order each individual part for it. Any ideas on how to solve this problem.

A shorty cable will help a lot. Also, try taking them apart and cleaning everything real good. You will see a plastic gear on the assembly that controls the screw which contacts the pad. Screw the screw completely in, then work it out gradually until the cover will fit on with a little gap between it and the assembly. Bolt it on and try the brake, you will have to go a click or two at a time from here until you get them just right. It doesn't really take too long to get them dialed in.

If you need a little more detail on adjusting them, do a search for the cable brake DIY, its very detailed and i'm pretty sure has pics as well. Hope this helps.

hah YB beat me to it , install one of these . I can or a couple other guys here can make the bracket for it .

YB200, i would love to go hydro, but until nys decides to give us our income taxes funds are low. It has already been bored over and the engine rebuilt, new shocks, new tires, new oil injectors, basically every thing has been redone on it except the brakes, and that ugly purple color. lol. will probably order the shorty cable, and clean them, see if that helps for now. Where can i find those hydro sets? The pic of the one blastard put up is pretty nice.
