hey guys my rear brake caliper is ceased on my 01 blaster. what can i do to fix it? also is there a semi-cheap way to convert it to hydraulic brakes?

you can take it apart and see if you can break it loose. but most likely not.
and semi cheap would buy a used rear brake system from a banshee and mount it all youself. even then it wont by super cheap unless you find a good deal.

Check with AWK08. He'll sell you a complete rear brake setup from a GSXR street bike. Very nice setup. I have it myself and so do many other members.

I am putting rear hydraulic brake on my Blaster at the moment.
I have a big bunch of parts and I am pretty handy. I gotta tell you, AWK's price of $165
for the complete set-up is a pretty good deal. Yeah, you can find a $45 piece here and a $35 piece there, but what of your time and shipping and mistakes?

Sounds like a good deal to me.

My brakes were completely ceased when i bought my 94 (helped me get the deal i got)....Didn't wanna go into pocket for hydro conversion (too many toys not enough funds) so I followed Blasternoobs rear brake post in the DIY section....about $35, a couple hours time and a LOT of brake cleaner later and my brakes work perfect...Feel free to PM me if u go this route

i spent $13 on a katana brake set up, just because it was cheap. when it showed up i knew i would have to custom make some sort of bracketry to make the caliper fit.I studied it for about 5 mins and used the stock caliper breket and literally bolted on 1 bolt in place.i then drilled 1 hole in the tourque bracket? that came with the set up and bolted it to the stock blaster bracket. I thought of postin a diy but i wanted to get another brake set up before i sent a slew of ebay vultures after my parts.

On another note i thought of selling the set ups but i dont want to cut AWK08's throat,i might ebay them though.

If you can do a lil bit of fabbing or redneckin it together motorcycle rear brakes are cheap and plentiful. When bikes get totaled the rear brakes usually survive and are very reliable to begin with. This creates a surplus. Everything that fits a blaster is relatively higher due to the fact that thousands were sold with sh*t for rear brakes.

Thats why the still shot in my profile is a blaster leaving me standing straight up! I rode forever without rear brakes and it would dump my fat ass all the time. The last time was when i was hammered in the dunes and it dumped me hard in fourth gear.

You can tinker with the stockers and get them working good ,but for the price of a cable you could go hydraulic if your mechanically inclined.
