Im thinking of getting my engine bored .040 over. Im definatley getting a port and polish job soon but was just wondering if it would really be worth it to go ahead and bore it out. Will it make a big difference? Ive never rode a bored out blasty before...thanks guys!

Getting more power by boring your motor out is a myth and a wast of useable cylinder life. Porting it will make a big improvement on power.

Thanks for the info, exactly what I was looking to hear! Im not gonna worry with boring it out, just a good port and polish job.

Porting is a great base for any other upgrades you will do to the motor. A Ken O'Conner racing redesigned head is a real nice upgrade to go with that porting

I was thinking after I get it port and polished, I would get a 35mm carb, would that be a bad idea? Would that be a good power increase? Haha sorry for all the ?'s but what do you expect im a noob lol

bad idea? not a chance! its not worth the 35 carb if you are not ported tho. so do the porting and the head mod then get the carb. REMEMBER to jet that that properly after every mod.

I would go with a good pipe first. I think you will see more of a power gain. A 35mm carb is nice but you would feel little extra power with the restrictive stock exhaust.

porting is where its at man, if u got more money to blow everything listed in my sig is a great upgrade. oh lookie, there is even a link there too I:I I:I

I have a FMF fatty and powercore 2 exhaust already on the bike. My plans are to get a p/p job, Ken O'Conner redesigned head, 35mm carb, Vforce reeds and cage, +3 stroker crank, wiseco pro lite piston and rings, colder plug and advance timing 4 degrees. I think ill be happy with that!!!

^^^^^^Great start! Not sure about the colder plug thing?? B8ES, EG, or B9ES, EG would be the only two I would use. IMO! I:I

Then in time sell your FMF and grab up a toomey or right bend pipe and feel the rush!

I wonder if the OP meant getting it Sleeved and going with a 240 ? kinda sounds like that may have been his original idea . a stroker 240 is a fun ride , but everything suggested to you so far is spot on . MY buddy bought a blaster and its a stroker 240 , dune port , stock carb ( needs a bigger one ) and a Toomey Exhaust and damn it pulls as hard as a stock banshee . Good Luck with the build .
