So many threads come up on this, this may be on here already, but i havnt seen it

Do you have any of these problems...

-Strange idle
-Hesitation
-Abnormally hot engine
and more hopefully other will ad

you almost certainly have an air leak.

Air leaks are common with 2-strokes and result in a short and painfull death.

It is important to stay on top of this by using an leakdown tester. there are threads on making/using leakdown testers

Holeshot man on this site sells them and i personally have one.

It is importnat to do this first before taking anything apart because you will never know where the original problem was.

Hope this saves an engine o two

i'd rather make my girl airtight, way more fun !!!!!!
but an airtight motor is an absolute necessity.

I had hoped to start a trend when I first started talking about them.. but noooooooo.....

I will NOT ride my Blaster before I do a leak down test.I will NOT ride my Blaster without proper jetting. I Will inspect my Blaster top to bottom once a week. This is how I will show my respect to my Blaster and all those how have helped me on this forum.

man, if they can't read the "my blaster wont start" on the 10 threads before the one that they open, they're not gonna read anything else

When I rebuilt my topend, I asked a local "performance" motorcycle repair facility If they did a leakdown test after rebuilding an engine. Their reply was that they "never" do, & that "I spend too much time on the internet!"
(probably because they want me to spend my time & money there, over & over!)
So, needless to say, I did it myself, tested it, & it has run great ever since.
Had I not done my homework searching this site, asking questions, then applying what I had learned, I am positive the opposite would be true.
I have thanked everyone for their help & advice before, & will gladly do so again.
Just remember the old addage, You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

what is a cocky noob scot? Please clarify im lost? But I do understand the importance of a leakdown test.

so every new person knows nothing or are they just stupid because they have a low post count?

not every new person, some people have a wealth of knowledge before they show up

its the people who think they know everything and disregard all words of wisdom that are given to them

do you feel like this coment was directed at you or something? I am speaking of a stereotype of some new people we have had that just won't listen. Hell, i was guilty of this. The only difference was i didn't argue i just didn't listen. Needless to say i learned my lessons the hard way.

yes in a way scot because you posted on my thread about why am I fighting this about leakdown testing and I was not fighting anything. I appoligize if I seam like a cocky noob to you but I do have some smarts, I am smarter than a fifth grader. I have owned other 2 strokes when I was younger, forums werent around and made it till now.

Look at my age. I've been working on all kinds of stuff starting at age 13.I've worked in auto repair shops for many years.I came on here and learned stuff I didn't know from this forum. So don't think you know it all. That would be a mistake on your part. These people are willing to share what they know. Be smart and listen.
