so ive been messing with the rd350 on blaster dialing in the carb. the motor would run at really high rpms, now after rebuilding carbs the kickstart wouldnt budge. i put it in nuetral it rolls good, then in 6th gear and rocked it and the kickstart freed up. then i kicked it again and it stuck and it keeps repeating it over and again. does it sound like cylinder or crankcase issue?

sounds like a kickstart gear problem, time to open up the clutch cover to see whats going on in there

i hope thats it because im sick of seeing my local machinist. he loves me though lol

If it's anything like a Banshhee, the idle gear rides on output shaft and is held on by E-clip with washer. Clip may have came off. use new clip, may solve it. PO of son's 'shee welded washer to shaft. No problem, but can't replace gear bushing

thats what i hear. im really looking forward to testing it out. ill let you what its about if i ever finish this project.

Turn it on it's side when you take the cover off. It'll save fluid and time on cleanup. It also makes it easier to get to and work on.

Those RDs supposedly made 48hp at the output shaft

Get some old Toomey T3s (or T1s or T2s if you can find them) and keep it retro.

thanks for the good advice.

well tore down the topend to find the right side piston has broke the piston skirting and pieces of it has fell down into the crank case. never done it but it looks like im tearing into bottom end tomorrow.

Aww man, that sucks. Still, a bad RD350 is still an RD350. Patience will turn it into something nice.

Any chance of having the cylinders ported while they're off? LED does a lot of older stuff.

i have looked around but havent tried them yet. i will call them today. thanks for the advice.

LED used to be LRD. LED is one of the best big name companies out there. Arlan Lehman is an honest guy and will back his stuff up. I won't mention the company, but there was a company (lets call them Tircle Crack Racing) that ported a cylinder that was cracked from the get-go and never informed the customer but still charged him. Arlan took good care of that guy for cheap.

He's a great guy and will stop what he's doing to help you, whether you're going to buy or not. I called to ask him what he included with his porting and I guess he misinterpreted me because he just started rattling off all of his durations for his race porting and then just sat there and talked about 250Rs for about 15 minutes.

His number is: 503.522.2465

However, I try to support local and smaller builders because Arlan gets enough business as it is. If KOR or Flotek tell me that they feel very comfortable porting anything outside of their realm, I'll send it there first.

i called led he said with what he suggest it will gain about 10 - 12 hp and cost about a $1000

getting a banshee motor. but to my rd he said port ,polish, bore and new pistons. then later banshee reed cage.
