Rattling noise

I bought a 2005 blaster about a month ago, it ran good until about a week ago, it started making a weird noise, like a rattle coming from the engine, as if there was a rock inside the engine, and it got louder yesterday. Now when i start it it idles for about ten seconds and then stalls. And will only stay on if i gas it a little. My uncle used it once and he really forced one of the gears to drift, i believe it was second gear, if not first. It still runs, but the noise bothers me. What could be causing the noise?

Before you start it again, pull the header pipe and the carby and reed block out and inspect the piston for any damage.

It sounds like piston slap to me, you may be lucky and the piston has not dropped a skirt.

i'll second that, time to pull it apart for a look, and probably a topend rebuild.
do not even start it again, if it breaks, or has broken the piston skirt, it may be time for full rebuild

And who belongs to that number?

Top end rebuilds aren't that bad, but they can become expensive if you don't have the tools.

The price to DIY without the tools will encompass a rebuild and mods from a professional. Unless it's your thing, stick to the basics. However, we'll all be here if you decide otherwise.

Seeing as how herpderplol's screen name is made entirely of meme related syllables, I should have expected that lol

Blaaster, is that you in your profile picture?

I had a similar problem a few years back. turns out it was in fact a missing circlip and the wrist pin was slapping side to side chowing up the barrel as it went. Only way to find out is to open it up
