the lony thing that should be touching those clutch pads is oil, and oil only

well before you get too far you should bolt the topend down and do a leakdown test. if you have a crank seal leak you will have to pull the clutch back off anyway.

Thats what im doing. I wanted to see if it leaked at the seal. I didn't get a chance to though cause my sister got back from vacation today.

Since my last thread I learned the oil was fouling the plug when it idled long enough.

Nut on the clutch boss should be a lot more than finger tight, is is 58 ft lbs.

Primary gear on crankshaft 58 ft lb.

Balancer gear 40 ft lb.

Push rod 1 is 5.1 ft lb.

You might consider taking a file to the clutch basket and removing some of the grooves the friction plates have made.

if you look at the collar it has a champfer on both ends. you need to fill that small champfer on the side that goes toward the crank with a good sealant like grey rtv or coper rtv. but only fill that champfer and nothing else. then reinstal the collar and try again. just had this exact problem a week ago and civicdude was kind enough to share this knowlege with me.

a stock oem crank comes with a very small bead of sealant on it just where that collar meets the crank on the back side. aftermarket cranks don't have this. they are slightly larger to compensate but sometimes that stil doesnt' seal properly. that is why you do the procedure i stated above

Well seal is leaking a little not alot like i was expecting.

Other trustworthy places to the seal? Rockymountain wont have them instock till sept something.

How about using parts cleaner on the clutch, to clean off the old oil. Wanting to switch to atf.
