Prentice Cooper WMA Chattanooga, TN

Prentice Cooper WMA has miles of trails primarily geared toward jeeps and 4 x4 trucks. That said there are are two free primitive camping areas, a shooting range, and tons of mountain top Cliffside views.
It's free to ride, and can be good fun, but there is a site wide speed limit of 25 MPH and not tight twisty atv only or single track trails..

At least it's somewhere to ride, seems pretty fun. In CT it's illegal to ride anywhere except private property......with permission.

man that sucks Prentice Cooper is like 30 minutes away for me and you really couldn't ask for a better place to ride considering it is free. To compare Houston Valley in GA is about the same distance maybe closer and for $5 per operator per day. You get XC atv/motorcycle trails with no speed limit. A 50 inch width limit, and no buggies, side by sides or anything else without a set of handlebars, keeps down on Sunday drivers sitting in the middle of the trail. It tends to be alot more fun for me with a blaster than wide open paths and a 25 my speed limit.
But yeah its great to have these state resources, as not alot of people with any amount of land are willing to let anyone ride or make paths.
