I have an 04 blaster. Im seeing alot of pipes for 88-02 only. Whats the difference? Can I run an 88-02 on my 04? Need mods? Im sure this is on the forum , but I havent been able to find it.

Thanks, This is my first 2stroke quad since the 86 polaris trail boss. I usually ride a kx250. Ive always had good luck with pro circuit. What I want is alot of midrange and topend. Im gona stay with the 200cc displacement, and I have a 30 and 34 carb that just need a boot. Its kinda hard to figure out what pipe will fit my needs, without trying them. When guys start talking pipes, usually looks and guessing start creeping into the conversation. I dont care how it looks or what the name brand is, I just want something that hits hard in the middle and screams ontop.

Toomey is also a very good bet for a mid/top end pipe if you're staying with a stock-displacement engine. This pipe hits hard and keeps on pulling as the revs climb. They also sound very good, at least when compared to brands such as FMF, DG, DMC, and Pro Circuit. F7 is also a good pick and will also perform well from what I've heard. I don't have one (yet!...Its on the way...) to review.

I'd run the 30mm carburetor; do NOT use the 34mm unless you plan on having it ported and stroked. You'll loose power running the too-big-for-a-stock-engine 34mm carb.

idk if youve bought one yet but if you havent, i would go with toomey. I beleive along with many others that it is a mid-top pipe. some people say it is a low-top but i think otherwise. i have nothing bad to say about the pipe. i love it

Any other mods or future mods?

Toomey kit with Uni filter included. Their jetting specs are typically spot on for a stock engine. A definite wake up in top end power. 30mm carb is fine, but you will have to work the jetting specs for the Toomey exhaust.....stock 26mm is fine as well and you probably won't have to play with the jetting as much(just use Toomey's provided jet specs). Other nice exhausts are LRD, Factory 7, Power Pros, Graydon Proline.

get a bills thats what i have and it screams up top and mid but still has a lot of low end power too, plus it sounds pretty good, though imo the best sounding pipe is a dmc alien

If you want a good performance on the mid, get a toomey. . This pipe make you blaster pulls hard on the mid you cant hear anything coming behind you or get a LRD if you have mods on your engines.

I have the lrd on the way I have ridden a couple lrd blasters and they pull wicked hard all the way to the top way better then the fmf I had but they arent built for the same purpose I would have to say that the little extra money for the lrd is probably worth it too

Thanks for the input. Im gona go with a very mild port job and a 30mm carb. I was just bidding on a dynoport pipe on ebay, but gotten a little too pricey for me. I think ill try and contact the manufaturers you guys have recomended, and see if any of them will tell me the tuned length of there pipes.
I have a stock carb ,and a couple older 34mm round slides if anyone has a 30 there looking to unload. :)

The best sounding pipe is a DMC hands down and not just because I have one. So I know people here have a boner for F7 pipes but I have to disagree. I know for a fact that the DMC is a better pipe than an fmf gold. I have directly compared both on a stock engine. My blaster also has better top end response than my riding buddy who has a f7 pipe and stroker crank. Everyone has an opinion on the DMC but I seem to be the only one who has one. The general suggestion is that it is good for a stock motor, but I would disagree as does DMC themselves. Other than personal experience I can not say it is better than an F7 but it is equal ...yes I am saying it .... also, the company mods3 which you can easily find on the net did an independent test comparing the DMC, FMF fatty, Fmf sst, and pro circuit blaster pipes. The DMC outperformed all with dyno numbers that showed 25% horsepower gain and 20% torque gain with 6.2 pounds weight savings on stock blaster. This is why they recommend it as the best pipe for a blaster on there main page. I am sure that you can find sites saying anything but this test was backed up and they also still sell the other pipes. I have also seen dyno tests online comparing toomey and shearer pipes. Where the shearer pipe had better results than the toomey. I sound like a rep for DMC, and will give you the bad news, jetting is extremely finnicky and your low end will suffer. Mid through powerband screams however with the best sounding blaster pipe there is. I would buy another in a second and if not a DMC, I would then buy a PTR (paul turner) or shearer.

Thanks for the info. Reason I asked is, the guy who sold me the blaster has a banshee with a dmc pipe. I know its kinda apples to oranges, but im meeting him in the AM to check out his bike. We'll see how it goes.
