Okay so I got the blaster a few months ago for 550 bucks. It is a 98 has dg silencer I believe and I think stock combustion chamber, and a k&n air filter. Okay the flirt problem is the darn thing won't idle at all. I have already cleaned the carb and played with both idle screws. They do nothing. Still has tors. Second problem is it doesn't hit power ban at all in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. Not the best but there is significantly more in the higher gears. Sorry if this has already been asked... I looked for awhile but couldn't find something close enough.

As BlasterDemon7 said, Do a leak-down test and a compression test. You can build a leak-down tester very cheap and It will help you . There is a few posts here that show you how to build one,use one.etc. if your not sure how. I'm working on a friends blaster right now that its acting similar to yours. I would have done the leakdown today, But I chose to attend a cookout!

If you don't have the know how or simply don't want to build your own leak tester a member on the forum ( Awk08 ) sells them at a reasonable price. Regardless of if you build or buy, a leak tester is probably the most important tool to have for a 2 stroke ... it will save you money, time and aggravation !

Okay. Thank you! I am very new to the 2 stroke world and also the having to work on it thing! Been riding Honda darn near my whole life. Umm could you briefly describe what the leak test and compression test is?

Leak down test = a 2 stroke engine MUST be air tight. The Blaster engine depends on a proper air/ fuel ratio for lubacation and cooling. Having an air leak will allow extra air to enter the engine making the air/fuel ratio lean. LEAN = engine damage. A compression test will read the amount of compression your engine has. Compression is what turns the fuel into a vapor. Fuel in liquid form will not burn. It's only the vapors that burn. Low compression will only turn part of the fuel into a vapor and that's why you have lower power when you have lower compression.

Mine had the same problem. I cleaned the carb and still no idle. The tors cuts the motor off when your not giving it gas so delete it, also adjust your clutch. Mine wouldn't kick in any powerbands and I found that the was the clutch cable was adjusted it was always pulling the clutch so powerbands wouldn't kick in and I adjusted it and it had twice as much power. Also your power bands might be cracked so check them.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about?

I think your are refering to the reed valves as the powerbands. Powerband is not a part, it is when your motor makes it's peak horsepower.
