Porting Program

have at it lol. me on the other hand i got 3 spare top ends and a total of 6 if you count the ones installed in my blasters already but i'd never touch one of them with a dremel. i wouldnt want to screw them up and spend $200 or more to replace them when i could have just spend the $150-250 in the first place to have it done right by one of the sites many reputable builders who spend their spare time here helping us with all sorts of problems. yea the builders may get competitive, sometimes slanderous, and preach the importance of port work but thats their job. ever meet a salesman who isnt trying to sell something? if you have, thats because he sucks at his job. a real salesman never quits selling. if i had the cash i'd gladly send a top end to each builder on this site to see which meets my needs best. so far my only worked top end was done by flotek and it'll pull your f*ckin arms off even with 14/38 gearing and 20's on the back. i'd love to give the others a try.

i respect diy'ers but i aint one of em. if you can understand the science behind what your doing and do it yourself more power and respect to you but for me i still believe that there are some things a program cant teach you and you only learn from experience.

and how do you learn?? by paying someone else to do it? NO you DIY man :D sorry your to scared to experiment guy :o

there's a surprise 8-|

i agree that most members can not jet a bike properly, which with out question means machining a head on a lathe or doing port work is way over there head. you built your engine right and didnt pay flotek to do it right? oops..the other way around :-/

So................ who wants to see a DIY on cutting a cylinder head with specs and tooling? Basic 10th grade machining.

Bring it on Ken! Won't ever try it just like porting but very interested in seeing how it's done. It's nice to see how a builder does the MAGIC!

That may be true of some, But most of us backyard mechanics, like to see how our motors are done, not mathematically but what actually porting a head looks like. And I can only thank one Builder for that KEN OCONNER! I know what porting/chamfering and milling meant but never new what it actually looked like seeing that vid makes ya appriciate what they do even more. So keep the rude comments and secrets to yourself, We have an insider that is one of us!

yeah i would like to meet him in person, he has given me lots of quality advise. i still need to get my flotek stickers made up and put on the new ride I:I I:I.

In my mind it's always a good idea to send your jug off to a pro.
By the time you buy the 'proper' tooling to do port work you have spent more money then it costs to have somebody do it.
I'm sure with enough time and patience a Dremel could work but it's not designed to do the job....

yea i agree, also you better have a pretty darn steady hand - no shakies

a dremel won't cut it. need something far smaller in diameter and less bulky and more controllable w/the rpm of the cutter. you need to get ahold of cc specialties and get a #44 handpiece and 1mc 90deg handpiece (for transfers and aux exh ports). i would also suggest the new 1/3hp motor from foredom, w/the new "torque at any rpm" technology. works great. oh yeah, you need a steady hand too.
