hey guys just wondering would i be able to polish the clutch cover, beadlocker(not the rim) and teh edges of my front rims on my yfz? the clutch cover says maginesium ? thanks

Re: polishing

you should be able to. a friend of mine got bored one day, and polished everything on his crf250r, and the covers on the engine were magnesium as well. i dont think he had any issues

Re: polishing

i best get polishing then lol! i sanded of the rust on my axel and bumper if i use mothers polish/t-cut will it stop it from rusting again?

Re: polishing

after you polish it, spray it will some clear. i did that on my axle and it helps. it will get water spots and sh*t, but hasn't rusted yet. just use some of the mothers polish and a microfiber rag and clean it up without a problem.

Re: polishing

be careful with that clutch cover as magnesium dust is highly explosive if your gonna polish it u best be in a room free of any form of ignition such as electrical motors. ie: aircompressor

good advice man. i just looked up the procedure for polishing magnesium and it said to be careful as the dust is highly flammable.

Re: polishing

i know its off topic, but werent the old vw beetle engine blocks magnesium? i remember seeing one that someone strapped a big turbo on at norwalk several years back. the car was quick, but i heard shortly after that track day somewhere else, he was running it hard and the block got so hot it caught on fire and burnt the car up.
