PLEASE READ any one under 16 being ban from ridding in illinois

ok guys well this really isnt cool, at all and i dont get how its legal either,

Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code to provide that school districts must provide instruction in relation to the laws regarding the operation of all-terrain vehicles and off-highway motorcycles in grades kindergarten through 12 and may include the instruction in social studies, American government, driver education, or other appropriate courses of study. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to prohibit any use of all-terrain vehicles or off-highway vehicles on roads. Provides that the Secretary of State may suspend a person's driver's license for 6 months for a violation of provisions relating to the illegal use of all-terrain vehicles and off-highway motorcycles on streets and riding an all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle as a passenger. Provides that it is illegal to operate an all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle if the operator is under the age of 16, does not have a valid driver's license, or is not wearing a properly fitted helmet secured to the person's head. Provides that a person must demonstrate knowledge of all-terrain vehicle and off-highway motorcycle laws on the written examination for a driver's license, and provides that information relating to all-terrain vehicle and off-highway motorcycle laws must be contained in publications of the "Rules of the Road" by the Secretary of State and "Laws for Youth" by the Legislative Research Unit.

so.. if your under 16 you cant ride aatv on the street?? and the problem with that is what??? im 25 and cant ride mine on the street

i believe it says, "Provides that it is illegal to operate an all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle if the operator is under the age of 16", now im not sure if that means just on the street, because i dont think its legal to ride on the street to start with, so i dont know if im just confused about it...or?

I would asume they mean at all, off road or on. unless ur licensed, or under 16. just my thought.

it says that you can not ride if your under 16 you have to take a safty course and get the permit...

Sounds like it refers to driving on roads... Maybe ?

its too confusing, i think it says you can not ride if you are under 16 though, i dont know what it says about riding on the road as i didnt think that was legal to start with? mabye the cops on here can help us out

well in MI you have to go through a certification to be able to ride a quad on the trails if you are under 16... And you must carry that with you... Maybe IL is starting that cert. procedure?

umm well i believe it says on Almost all ATV's and Bikes its got the circle with line through it saying (<16) do not ride

Im MI youth 12 and over CAN ride the bigger quads on trails as long as they pass the cert. process, carry the certificate with them, and are within rescue range (visual range) of an adult.

Yes it says they cannot ride those on the quads, but MI laws allow that.
