Pistons?

I just thought of something... If its freezing out why would you change the main jets and crap it doesn't matter if it's lean

Where did you pick up the info that it did not matter if it is lean?

Even a slightly lean mixture can wreak destruction to a motor.

I ment rich* sorry

Cold air is more dense than hot air. Dense air holds a higher partial pressure of oxygen (the ACTUAL amount of oxygen in a given volume) which is what you're trying to jet to compensate for.

When the weather turns cold, yamaha recommends stepping up one main jet in order to compensate for the denser more oxygen rich air that the engine is intaking. On an aftermarket carb the main jet increase should be between 1 jet size and 2 jet sizes depending on your engines fuel needs. Only a plug chop can make absolutely certain....

Somebody help him out and post the video for KOR Proper Heat Cycles. I hate to see him wasting his valuable riding time, and I can't find the thread that someone posted about a week ago that had it.

Also, reading the posts I wonder if you know for sure, so I just wanted to offer. When talking in terms of Lean vs. Rich, you are talking about the fuel in the fuel-air-ratio. If you are Rich, you have extra fuel and oil mix (are you premixing or have oil injected? What ratio? Also, what octane fuel ya buying?) to lubricate your piston and cylinder wall. If you are Lean, you have less fuel than air...this you don't want because the Oxygen will make the ignition/combustion of the fuel burn longer and hotter with less lubrication, heating up the engine, heating up all the components in the engine...you get the point. Richer is the way we all want to be. I:I

I am running 93 gas and I don't mix the gas and oil. But ya I know how the engine works and everything.. I just miss typed the word. I always run my toys a little rich. I would hate to blow a engine.. We found out the only reason my piston and rings went were because it was te stock piston and rings and everything.. It s a 1995 so it did pretty good for that Long of a time period. And yes I am going with Wiseco forged piston.
