I have a friend that rides with us (My brother and I) he runs a Vertex. My brother runs a Namura. I run WSM.. The rebuild kit gaskets included costed me less than $100... like 95 but i hate to see people on wiseco;s di#k. Think of how long a stock cast piston last in a new blaster... about what 2-5 years.. ohh yea if yall forgot stock piston cast

So are people saying Wiseco is junk? I think Vertex is a great forged piston because KTM uses them in all of there 2 stroke mx bikes. They also have that black finish on the skirts to make it lube it....I think the next time I need a rebuild, I'm gonna try a vertex. Plus, they are Italian name, can anyone think of anything that is Italian and ever broke? Didnt think so...

Actually, I was just saying that WISECO isn't "all that". None of these companys make pistons that are junk or they wouldn't stay in business. I was saying any piston can fail. This is due to many factors, initial clearance, break-in, wear, usage, flippin' Murphy's Law...... I've used many Wiseco pistons with good results, and at least one that didn't (cracked skirt).

Currently I am trying out Namura (a nice piston with a sexy moly coating). A hypereutetic cast piston is almost as strong as a forged piston, and lighter in weight. Plus, since a cast piston doesn't expand as much, you can run tighter clearances, reducing piston slap and whaddayaknow? Cracked skirts. This was told to me by a reputable engine builder. Another reputable guy disagreed. It's an imperfect world. sh*t breaks sometimes.

Especially Italian stuff, they just cost more to fix. That's why Ferraris spend most of their time in the garage.....

runnin yamaha cause my quad never needed a rebuild. 11 years on stock yamaha piston and 3 sets of rings never touching the cylinder with anything. don't know about you guys but 11 years on a piston is pretty damn good
