Piston, jug and rings toast, jetting opinions and help please!

Well, I thought I was going to be pretty much done with my project, but took it out to tune it today with my rear fenders and no toil air filter on it, was going to play around for about 15 min to be able to read the fresh plug, and after about 5-10 min, it died. Tore it apart, and the front right edge of my piston started to melt, and F***ed my piston, rings and jug. So now time for a bore and a piston, or a top end from someone. :(

I just put a used fmf gold fatty pipe and powercore 2 silencer on it, put a 260 jet in it. It was a stock bore. After tearing it apart, I found that the previous owner had leaned up the main needle one notch. Do you think that one notch on the main could be my only trouble? Or do I need to put a larger main jet in as well?

I moved the main needle back to the middle notch for now.

Here are some pics of my plugs, used on the left, fresh on the right used about 5 - 10 min running alot in 6th high rpms. I was running in 6th most the time when it seized, went about 5 miles around a section on a gravel road running almost WOT. Do you suppose the jetting was a big issue, or running it too much WOT in 6th? It always started first kick, and seemed to run good, both with the 230 jet and stock pipe, and with the 260 and the FMF setup.

Pics of the piston show were she started to melt, and screwed everything. It also had a crack in the lower skirt as well.?

yeah most prolly the jetting and the 6th gear WOT .. umm were u premixing ?if so what were u premixing at ? ... or still using the oil injection ? ..

i'm not sure, that don't sound like sound bad , it may have been cause u were doing alot of WOT in 6th gear .. i run a 270 with some mods and she runs good .. was this a new top end? or was it kinda old if it was new did u break it in ..

I dont think it was new, I bought it how she was. I think I may have also ran out of gas on the on position, moved it to reserve and got fuel in the filter again. Could that be a possible engine breaker if I was in 6th WOT when it lost gas? If so, I might just start running on reserve if im gonna give her hell, cause I would rather walk back home, then fix this again.

The Machinist worked it in today and bored it for me 66.50 was all it needed, and I have a wiseco kit will be here tomorrow, so hopefully Ill be running again tomorrow evening. Just wont to make sure and prevent it from happening again.

Im thinking, correct me if Im wrong, but a bunch of things added together may have caused this. Running in 6th WOT (maybe more than I should have?), main needle was one notch leaner than stock, and running out of gas while WOT with the main needle one leaner may be the culprit!? You think? If so, ill try the main needle back stock location, leave the 260 and make damn sure I dont run out of gas again, especially WOT.

Yes by the way I am using the yamalube premix oil, 2-r I think.

I would switch to something like castor 927 and wide open throotle is pretty much only ok on a stock blaster once you open it up a bit you can smoke it in 10 min. no problem,, specially if the t.o.r.s was removed, yea and the needle probly didnt help yur cause.

What would the tors have to do with it, doesn't it pretty much just kill the motor to keep it from taking off, say, like if the throttle cable broke, or the slide stuck?

Yes he bored it without the piston on hand, but I have to take it to him tomorrow, and he is going to check the piston with the bore, before he sends it out with me. (he said wisecos are usually pretty good about size) Im in a time crunch, because we were planning on leaving to go camping on Thursday and are taking the blaster.

For premix oil, you suggest castrol?
