picked me up a 300ex

let me sum it up to you.. 4 stroke race engines must be rebuilt as often as a 2 stroke if not more often since they run at extremely high compression ratios thus cause higher friction heat and wear than a two stroke... i rebuild my 250f race bikes once a year completely,,,while with my 2 strokes i can easilly get away with just simply re-ringing it and slapping on a new base gasket and im set for the year....also it takes me almost a week to completely rebuild my motor and 500bucks(usually more) and countless trips to the shop and back...while my two stroke i can rebuild completely with bore and hone for 150bucks and have it up and running in 2 hours or less..so tell yourself this is a week of downtime and $500+ once a year worth the little bit of extra low end power (which only helps you coming out of turns) really worth it? when i was your age i was more concerned with just riding and having fun and doing it affordably...strap on ur helmet and ride you blaster man and be happy..ur 12 years old.. look lasxgames...his blaster still has a blaster heart in it and hes had a great career for his age and hes beating yfz450s and stuff like that all the time in the open class..concentrate at getting good at riding and racing..once you out grow the junior classes and collegeboy classes then lets talk about motor swaps or a different bike...ive been there done that..u need to keep the sport fun, affordable and realistic or you will grow up to hate the sport like so many kids who have that Mini mx racer dad who yells and screams at them and sets un realistic goals

GREAT WAY OF PUTTING THAT! REP!!!! 2 strokes and 4 strokes have the ups and downs...like i said earlier, don't wanna start a huge argument... 4 strokes may cost more to rebuild, but if they run a little lean, they have less of a chance of blowing of that than a 2 stroke does.....

first off... you sons of biiiitches owe me a orvs cheese pizza sinc ei burnt it reading this 2 vs 4 stroke gibberish

iv owned both blasters a 300ex a 250x and a 400ex 300ex handles better, nore lowe end power, better brakesand is a simple 4 stroke motor there compairable stock for stock in hp to a blaster but have more low end grunt..

the 300ex frame is wayyy better than a blaster frame... the honda trx250r's were SQUARE TUBE just like the 250x/300ex/400ex... the 400ex shares the simmaler aspects to the 250r... there practicly the same chassie

all high performance motors need to be rebuiltto stay competitive and at peak hp

my body took a beating at dyracuse on my blaster.... the 300ex soaked up the beating, where the blaster let me feel it!! for a trail machine a 300ex will out do a blaster stock for stock

my old 250x had, a cam, pipe, bigger carb, and bb kit, and it was faster, stopped better and out handles my blaster at dyracuse.... well faster once it hooked up.... the 250x wouldnt hook up untell mid to top 3rd gear

to answer it... yes a 300ex is a better all around machine... face the facts or go to bed

Going to have to agree. The Blaster will make more power for less price, but the 300ex is the better chassis and handles better for less. I've ridden both on the same track and switched riders and it's the same story.

As far as reliability of both, I'm not going to even bother......the 4 strokes are typically more reliable UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES and those circumstances are ever changing and can vary to the point that 2 strokes can become more reliable.

theres a reason for that because a 4 stroke runing lean doesnt have a lack of oil to lube the pistion where with a 2 smoke it isnt geting the proper amount of oil because its mixed with the gas
