Well all didn't go to well this weekend!!
In my class were 3 blasters, 3 honda 300 and 1 raptor 350. After first lap i were in 2de place going in to the wooded part and just behind one of the hondas. In the wood there is no place to pass and the honda was really just keeping us up. I hit a stone in the wood but not bad, Coming out of wood passed him. Out in front i pulled about 500m in front over a few low whoops full speed all hell broke loose, ass over heels!! WTF!! The left ball-joint broke and the a-arm stuck in the ground full stop! The outcome, dislocated shoulder, torn tendons and other bruises to body and ego!!!

Worst part was this was on the second lap 15 miles in to the course and had to wait an hour for the marshals to get to me, I forgot the 2 cracked ribs, yes who wears a cheast protector? if it is hot?

daaaaaaamn man, thats exactly why i am a freek about completely checking my bike over before i ride it, a lower arm coming out is my number one fear. glad you are kinda ok man it could have been worse, major bummer dude since you were winning at the time. heal up and get back out there!! I:I

holy batshit robin! that sucks , new cotter pins all around before the next race would be a good idea. glad to here you didnt break your neck. and this whole time you were worried about running out of gas, how did you do on the gas situation anyhow?

glad your allright bro, could have been way worse, gonna have to get a regimen going before any other races, go over every nut and bolt on the bike, and definately replace all them cotter pins

Glad your be around to race another day. Ya like was said you need to nut and bolt that thing every time you race it. If you get hurt because of a racing incident ( two quads gett'n together) thats one thing, but when stuff falls off your equip. and F's you up, thats bad. I'm not talking down to you, just dont want anyone gett'n hurt bad.

that sucks man, never seen a cotter pin shear like that. always nut/bolt your quad before a race like that. glad to see you're basically ok though lol

I wear a chest protector, and it is a little bit hotter.. but you get used to it real fast... I cant event tell i wearing it when i riding...

It's a little after the fact, but it doesn't hurt to get in the habit of safety wiring items like that. Get a wrap or two around the threads as well. It's an OCD addictive practice though. Once you do a few you'll start safety wiring everything.

Yes I know it's overkill, but hey why not do it on a rainy day. Harbor freight has the stainless wire and twisty pliers for cheap. Those same pliers will be triple the price at a cycle shop.

That is the way the cookie crumbles. I check every thing but the cotter pins. I check them today and all were rusted and in bad shape, so i'll replace them all and check them before and during each race at EVERY pitstop!!!
Here are some random photos at the rally

It were a hard race only 12 of the 110 bike completed the course and the only one in our class who finished were the honda who held use up
The overall winner a 700 honda in the open class

If your going to be doing endurance races, race/bike prep will become a religion. For me at the beginning o the season, before every big race and probably twice during the season the bike is bare framed. everything comes apart and is checked cleaned and inspected. then put together with lots of loctite new cotter pins etc. Her ya go, it will be a year or two before you need to think about getting more...
