oil level

i seem to have a pretty major oil leak. when it is full should you be able to see it from the fill hole? im guessing there is a overflow hole somewhere? any idea where these would typically leak from before i tear it apart tomorow?

i dont think there is an overflow hose or anything. maybe a crack in the oil tank or the hose that goes to the pump is not on right or sumthin. just ideas

There should only be about 3/4 of a quart of oil in your crankcase. You shouldn't be able to see any oil from the fill hole and if you look down behind your brake pedal you should see the sight glass. The oil should be half way up on it.

Sure you do. Down low, rt rear of the crankcase. It often gets full of mud if you don't clean it regularly. When you fill, you will put in 670 cc's of oil. Roughly 3/4 of a quart like the guy above said.

might as well thread jack here, if the oil view window has a leak, can you replace just the window or do you need to replace the whole crankcover?

The schematic doesn't show a separate part. I'd bet it isn't removable/replaceable.
