not running right

i just wraped the threaded part with the white tape i cant think of the name right now. there was no o-ring in the cap or anything

'Teflon thread tape' is the term you're looking for. This stuff works great on air compressors, but it won't do much good for your situation. Air can still leak in through the top of a loose carb. cap. Your best bet is gonna be to find a replacement carb for your replacement carb. Lol. A stock Blasty carb. isn't too hard to find at a reasonable price. I gave away an almost brand-new one recently, seeing as I couldn't get even $ 25.00 for it on local CL... :(

where could you get one at without goin to ebay

I might try craigslist... ebay is your best bet, but as youve seen, not every seller up there is honest. Vito's and other quad mod & rod sites sell the Keihin PWK 28mm carb's for a touch over $ 200.00 brand new. This isn't the cheapest way to go, but if you want to upgrade now...

It's a neat mod. A bigger carb. won't give much (if any) HP gain on a non-bored/stroked/ported engine, but I swear my throttle response improved from stock. PWK carb's come with throtte cables, extra jets for tuning, and don't require intake mods for the carb. to fit the intake boot, so the install is really easy. :D

Oh, and Bikebandit.com sells OEM Yamaha parts that you will have a hard time finding anywhere else. Might look there, too.
