Using the cable to adjust the throttle will work but be warned the throttle will increase when the handlebars are turned.

I see no posts saying that you have performed a leak test.

member awk08 sells a leak tester at a reasonable price leak testing is a must

well i ordered a leak down test and i think theres a leak.....adjusted the throttle and it runs and idles okay but has alot of white smoke. Thinking trans fluid is leaking into case?

That could be a possibility, and it should NOT be run until you leak test it and fix any leaks

lots of white smoke means either clutch side crank seal or case halves leak
