Hey guys, I acquired a '99 Blaster awhile back that needs a lot of TLC. I've been lurking on the site for awhile now and I'm finally going to tear it down and rebuild it. It fired up the 3rd kick but definitely has some compression issues.

So, I just ordered a full gasket rebuild kit and carb kit. I've also got a moose cap kit and an oil block off plate. After I get the head pulled I will know more details.

Welcome bro. I actually dont live to far from you. At least not from august to may. I work in houston the 3 months from may till august. I go to school in waco at tstc and let me tell ya waco is incredibly boring. If you need anything, I'm right down the road, and I wouldnt mind giving you a hand.

well I got home and pressure washed some caked up mud off. found some "hack" fixes and a damaged piston.

notice the welded ball joint to spindle

small chip at the 6 o'clock position, no scars or scratches on the cylinder wall or head.

I'm going to take the cylinder to my local machinist for a fresh hone and measurement. It looks like a stock replacement piston, there is an arrow facing the exhaust port and and x on the clutch side of the piston.

On the bright side, the frame, bars, and swingarm look great. The paint is still looking good. Looks to be a nice project build aside from the welded ball joint.

the "grab bar" is flimsy as hell. Most of the rattle can black came off with the pressure washer and the factory grey is showing. I'm just going to strip it down and have my buddy blast and coat it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for the arms yet. I may just build a set of +2 or 3's.
