Need to replace my oil seals?

I have ALOT of white smoke and it smells horrible!

how do i fix?

what does a shop usually charge to do this?

I think you just answered your own question, in a way... Sounds like the right side main seal indeed went bad on your Blasty. When this happens and the seal fails, oil from the gearbox gets drawn into the crankcase of the engine and burned, along with the usual fuel/air/oil mix coming in from the carb. The resulting oil smoke cloud is immense.

This fix really isn't too involved, so if you have some patience and basic mechanical skills, you can probably do the work yourself. The right side engine/clutch cover will have to come off, as well as the clutch assembly, but after that, it's just a matter of removing the drive gears from the crank, replacing the seal, and putting it all back together again. Parts needed? Just the new seal and a fresh crankcase cover gasket.

I'd get a service manual for the Blaster, if you don't already have one. Study it for awhile, and then you can decide for yourself whether or not you want to tackle the job. The shop where I work charges $ 62.50 per hour labor, but we mostly fix lawn equipment up there. I'd count on around $ 100.00 or so per hour labor if the work is done by a bike shop. A seal job only takes about an hour + parts if done professionally, so I bet you'd be out the door for $ 150.00 - $ 200.00. If you do the work yourself and only change the one seal, you might wind up spending $ 30.00 in parts, with shipping. :D

Good Luck!!
