As the title says I am needing to rebuild, I managed to lock the engine up on my blaster. Knowing that I need to tear down I have been reading lots of input on what type of gaskets to use or avoid. With that in mind I was wondering if you guys with an honest opinion would list what to use what to avoid. So lets hear it, Gaskets, pistons, rings, reeds, clutch, etc. I would like to be able to order all the parts I need at the same time when I do get it torn down so I thought this might be helpful. Thanks in advance.

first you would want to try and figure out why it locked up. either a air leak or running lean maybe. as for a piston the weisco is voted best. as for gaskets either oem or cometic. dont use the greenishblue base gasket many have reported problems with these. as for reeds the best they say is the vf3's and then the rad valve and then using some carbon fiber replacements. as for the clutch i havent herd anything bad about any clutch kits but using some hd springs and taking the wavy ring out and replacing it with a regular size is the cheapest if yours isnt already toast.

Thanks for the response, like I said not sure what I will get into but when I do I want to be able to sit down and order quality parts so I am not doing this again before I am ready to.

wiesco, wosner, athena, and pro-x make great pistons and always i trust them and use them all the time..avoid any cast pistons like namura and vitos...you want forged.. as for gaskets stock oem and cometic gaskets are the best and dont trust anything else.. and considering you seized your top end you probably bent the crank or destroyed the bearings so look into a hot rods crank.
