sry ive asked before but havnt got a good answer. bike is bogging down 1/8 to half throttle. wot is good but getting that low studder. ive heard that the needle clip needs to be moved and ive opened the whole carb multiple times and cannot find it. ive opened the middle and taken out spring and plastic piece under but see no adjustment. its a mikuni 28mm flatside any help is appreciated i wanna ride saturday. main jet was reduced from 280 to 270 to 250 just to get running better. thanks

The needle is in the center of the slide, if you've got it all apart the needle should just slip out. It has a clip that fits into grooves in the needle, raise the clip and it will be leaner, lower the clip will make it richer. If you can't figure it out look online for a schematic of your carb (mikuni.com) it will help you to see if you've gotten it apart correctly. Everyone talks about their main jet on here but the needle and pilot must be optimized also.

yea i looked on mikuni.com i couldnt find my carb but i have taken the whole center out with the needle and wat i could remember was the cable up top went into the metal piece or slide and the needle is comin out of the bottom of the slide. i dont know where the adjustment is from therei dont know if its in the slide which i didnt see or on the bottom around the needle or wat... ill check tom. and see wat i can see. thanks for the info.

and also if im bogging on 1/4 throttle would i need to lean is down or rich it up. i think there should be 3 adjustments right wat one would u recommend? thanks

If you don't know which way to go start out going rich first, if it runs worse go the other way. It's best to do any jetting changes with a clean carb, clean air filter, and a fresh batch of gas.

thanks for the info. im gonna do this today. that is way to much crap on this picture i got down to those 2 number 3 bolts and im gonna attempt to pull them out. and then u think between numbers 4 and 5 and the needle theres an adjustment somewhere?

ok question, i found my needleclip position and there r 5 setting. it is in the middle on 3 should i go down or up and by 1 or 2. bike studders on low throttle and bogs out til atleast 3/4 to wot. im thinking its rich and i also want to bump my main jet up to atleast a 260 from a 250. wen bike was studdering plugs were dark so im assuming rich. which way on the needle is to lean it out.

up is leaner, down is richer. if its boggin down low, bump it up a spot, dont go up 2 at once. do a plug chop for the main and see how it is. should be a mocha colour. if you dont know how to plug chop, get up about 4th/5th rev her out, pull the clutch and kill the engine, then pull the plug without starting it again obviously and check the colour.

iight cool good looks im gonna go up one but im gonna atleast go to a 260 main jet i hope they dont counter act each other. ill run it tom. and do a plug chop ill get back and see how it is and go from there. thanks

bringing this oldie back real quick for a question... on the link on the 1st page for the mikuni carb... can anyone tell me where the pilot jet is please... thanks

THe pilot is right in front of the main jet. if you are lookin at the bottom of the carb it is the small brass flat head to the side of the main
