Need rear brake help

I have the sotck cable operated disk brake and everytime I hit the brake, it gets more and more slack in the cable. It seems like the racheting mechanism is working backwards. Everything looks to be in there right, but what would cause it to do this??

its probably dirty and the spring isnt retracting it properly.
pull it apart and give it a good cleaning while its in your hand make sure the spring is working properly and make sure your cable isnt frayed.

Make sure the cable isnt bad. Could be stretched or frayed,causing the cable to slip if you push on the lever.

make sure the caliper is assembelly is correct.

oh yea make sure the pad slides back and forth fairly freely.. i wet sand the inside of the caliper just a little then greese it..
