ok i need some opinions. run a uni foam filter on the back of my carb, or a stock intake tube with no lid and a k&n filter? i am running a uni on the back of my carb right now but i am just wondering what would be better to run

The UNI on the back of the carb is ok if you stay away from any water. I've read that the K&N sucks but can't say myself. The best way to go is a stock UNI with no lid. Make sure your jetted rite.

Absolutely do not run the K&N, it allows small particles through, which will ruin your rings, clog up carb jets, etc. If you absolutely want to run it, make sure you have a fitted outerwears on filter and Airbox.
UNI on back of carb will not allow riding in wet conditions, I aslo question how this affects air velocity.
IMO, Your best bet is to run UNI inside of Airbox (no lid), or upgrade to CFM/PB airbox and use your UNI Clamp on.
Throw away the K&N. Use the stock box or upgrade box (build your own, there are some good DIY on the forums.)

i live in tucson arizona so no water here. only about twice a year. and i am jetted rich. i have the mods in my sig and i am running a 300 main. when i was running my fmf exhaust my jetting was perfect. now i switched to a paul turner and now i am rich. but i dont like the looks or the cost of a aftermarket airbox. and i cant weld or fabricate so i am going to stay away from making my own.

the uni are much easier to service..we have lots of fine dust and fine silica floating in our air in arizona so filters get exhausted and dirty within a few rides and K&N filters are a pain to clean...run the uni with some pantyhose stretched over it and you will be golden chris

sorry alex i dont run with panty hose all time like you do. but yeah especially today with the dust. you guys getting the dust storm?

no u nerd dont wear the pantyhose its for ur filter lol.. no dust storms but there have been dozens of good sized dust devils today

I run a velocity stack and a 2 stage Uni Filter with outerwears wrap directly off the carb , works great and Its the best protection you can have for your motor . I blast through puddles no worries because I also make sure the filter element is properly oiled .
I also made a support for the filter/velocity stack using a piece of all thread and covered it with clear pvc tubing so the weight of the filter and velocity stack doesn't pull the carb down and cause a air leak at the intake boot . I even slide through water at the ocean 6 inches deep sometimes and still no issues , yeah don't get the bike so deep it reaches the intake cause then your asking for a rebuild . I ride the dunes , so sand is always a problem , it gets everywhere , and saltwater is the worst for a bike , gotta maintain it all the time !!!

if you do run k&n you can also use casa Satin from a fabric shop
it is the same as outerwares.
