well iv decided to finally put a cam cam bearings and lifters in my truck because the cam bearings are worn out and running low oil pressure id like to have a mild cam to have a lil more bottomend for towing and I don't know whats good and whats bad iv been told that comp is a brand to stay away from

Before I fitted new bearings, I would be looking at why the old ones wore out.

Has the tunnel boring been warped out of line, either by overheating or by incorrect tensioning of the head fixings.

when we pull the motor out ill check everything out befor we put it toghter

I had a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy XE262H in my Bronco, and i loved it before i killed it!

I killed that cam because of the crap environment friendly oil!!

They have taken the ZINC out of most of the motor oil that you can buy, and the Comp Cams Xtreme Energy XE262H cam is a Flat Tappet cam, and the zinc is needed between the cam and lifters!

You can buy zinc additive for oil!

Or get a Roller cam, they dont need the zinc!

Need to know WAY more info then that

What are you using the truck for, what trans, what stall converter, what rear gear ratio and tire. What's been done to the engine? Compession ratio? What heads and have they been worked for more lift? Screw in studs?? All this we need to know.

If it's a street truck, that xe262h is a decent cam for street on a stock converter. I would stay around 220 duration at .050" and keep the lope separation around 110. But if it has flat tops and 64cc heads and a small stall converter maybe a little bigger on the duration. But it all depends what u want to use the truck for.

My race truck has a 350 with a 255/260 duration cam on 106 LSA but it has over 10.5:1 compression and a 3800 converter with 4.10's. Plenty of lope too :-)

as far as I know its stock its a 5 speed I use it as my dd and I haul a trailer full of fourwheelers quite a bit and my truck just doesent have any power as it is now and a nv3500 tranny

Stick shifts are more forgiving then automatics with a bigger cam

What about the engine? Bone stock? Headers? Is it carbed or fuel injected? A cam isn't really going to wake it up much it's a combo of everything.

its stock as of now I may throw an intake on it and a set of vorteck heads on it when we put it toghter but its gonna be a lil while befor I can get headders and its tbi

well iv changed my mind lunadi has a efi frendly cam and its supposto produce more power at lower rpm so I think im gonna get it

Be careful with that, just because they are EFI cams read the description. Some need fuel management upgrades and ECU tuning which u won't be able to do.

It's going to have to be a mild cam most likely a roller in your truck but u didn't post a year. Can't be anything big. So unless you understand cam specs and know your engine specs, which you never posted, then I would suggest u call Lunati, Crane, Comp, howards or whichever company u want to go with tell them what truck you have and what you want to do with it and they will give you the best option. You don't want to drop $500 in it to have it run worse then it did prior.

Good luck

its a 94 k1500 350sbc I don't know alow about it but the gut at autozone said the motor is out of a 54 chevy truck but I don't know it that is true or not I haven't ran the vin on the back of the motor

The number you would need would be on the front passenger side where the head bolts to the block right above where the water pump bolts. That will tell you what it's from, which if it's an old block might be flat tappet unless they used retrofit lifters. I don't think they went to roller cams untill the late 80's.

Regardless if it's TBI it won't matter it will need to be small and u can put a flat tappet in it if u want. Give em a call today they will set u up with a good cam
