just finished installing a 34mm carb, my problem is the bike doesn't idle and runs real rough unless I am at 1/4 to half throttle. I think I need to adjust the needle, but it won't come out of the slide. I have a flat slide keihn 34mm. we have adjusted the idle screw, air/ fuel! what could possibly be the problem?

the idle circuit is on the choke, try to twist the choke to adjust your idle if you have no cable left, try that and see what happens.
I have done that too, its not just the idle. the bike feels like it is lagging on the bottom. if I can fix that i think the idling will be OK.
not sure what size jet, how can I find that out? all I have is Vforce3 reeds and cage, spacer, 34mm boot, power pros exhaust and the carb. no internal motor work done yet.
take off your carb, and take the 4 screws out that hold the float bowl on. You will see the main jet (see what size that is also) and the pilot jet will be beside it recesed in a hole that you will need a small flat head screw driver to take out. The size in inscribed on the side of the jet.
mabe try a new throttle cable, it could be stretched out real bad, only because u said the adjuster on the throttle is all the way out
