Well apparently the answers vary. I didn't have to jumper both the carb and throtle wires, I only did the throttle.
As for how to do it, I cut the wires about two inches away from the connector plug (on the throttle switch side) and soldered them together. This gave me a removable jumper that didn't cut up the main harness (only the throttle switch).
Green wire: yeah grounding this wire should still work, it is how earlier blasters are wired, but I've always figured they had a reason to isolate that ground, and mine works fine with the green in its normal place.
