just put in a new piston bored 60 over. cant get it started! i bought the qaud with a blown piston so i dont know what else is wrong. its got a b1 pipe,v force reeds and its got a 260 jet. it sputters at first and acts like its flooded afterwards? pulled carb think everythings fine but the reed have a little bit of alum fromm previous piston on them? can anyone help.i pulled my head and the new piton is fine got good spark and compresion.gotta be a fuel or reed problem. or maybe metals blocking my oil pump causing to much presure in the crank? any ideas? thanks

did you do a compression check or does it just feel like it has good compression. Mine currently only has 102 psi of compression which feels good but it has trouble starting. after new rings it should be up around 145-150. Could be the reeds causing this to make sure they are sealing up good. You did hone the cylinder before installing the rings didnt you?

yes and yes

yeah i honed it and the reeds are sitting good butt after a few kicks(like 50) i get a crap load of alum on the reeds . real small fine pieces? my damn leg is going to fall off i disconected the oil injecter from the carb but didnt plug the hole could that make it not start?

also tried a shot of starting fliud does nothing the plugs wet thats why i siad it acts like its flooding? first time worhing on a two stroke im a little confused im mixed at 32:1 do you think its jetted right? thanks

Did the piston shatter and go into the cases? If your getting aluminum shavings, it sounds like your piston is hitting something and scraping on something.

Try blocking the hole from the oil injection on the carb and see if that helps could be messing with the a/f ratio idk. You really need to find the source of that aluminum and get it fixed right away that will ruin you bearings, piston, rings, and seals in a hurry. If its flooded turn the fuel off, take the plug out and kick it a bunch. Then put in a new plug and see what happens.

it had a dime size hole in the top of it. checked the cylinder after the install its perfect. thats why im thinking that the oil pump is clogged because the reeds are olny supposed to let air in not out and its causeing to much pressure in the crank

well I dont think a clogged oil pump would cause pressure on the crank. The oil pump is ran off the transmission gearing and in a 2 stroke the transmission and the crank case are sealed off from each other. the only way they could even be remotely connected is while the tranny is engaged and Im fairly sure your not trying to kick it over while its in gear without pulling the clutch=))(your not doing that are you:">)
as far as cleaning the crank I would try flushing it out with a bit of gasoline then let it evaporate and blow it out with compressed air

yeah it was 67.5 bore. is thier any way to drian the crank if i take of the oil pump because i already f up and tried to flush the crank with oil and soon found out it wasnt conected to the drian plug? im pretty retardedI:I thanks

ok, the shavings of metal, they look like metal "dust" is from you kicking it and the piston going up and down so many times without and oil/gas in there to lube the piston/cylinder, so stop kicking it so much lol do a compression check, a new piston and sleeve bore if done right should bring around 135 compression. i put one together today and got 135. try cleaning the carb once and make sure the metal dust didnt get into the jets and clog them, just my thaughts. good luck

funny. i just went through the same thing last night.
not quite the same thing, my top end went together great, but there were lots of shavings inside the crank case. i also noticed a portion of the rings missing...
youre not the only retarded one, i tried flushing it too... only to find the same thing out. fortunately it was only 10:30pm. i pulled the motor to flush the case out, theres no way id put a fresh top end on with that much crap in the case. got it back together by 1:30am, fired it and called it a night.

i got up at 6:30 this morning and have had a crappy day at work. as soon as i find the rest of the info i need im going back out there to finish the reassembly. this forum rocks

i've seen this a hundred times. one key thing after a bore is to remember to shamber down your intake/exhaust ports. (file them down) what happens is the edge of these ports catch the new piston rings causing small shavings. eventually the rings will be shot and you will lose compression. i would not suggest kicking one more time until you shamber these ports down better. just take a metal file and round off all the edges of every port in the cylinder. this should fix it. good luck
