i just finished a top end rebuild and now i cannot get it to idle what so ever and if it does run for a second i need to like clean my plug and put it back in everytime. what is going on! where should my air screw be and if possible where should my idle screw be? is there anything that could be causing this other than adjustments?

start with the air screw at 1.5-2 turns out that should be fine, the idle screw under the seat screw it out till it idles, if you have to keep changing plugs it prob too rich and fouling them out

what jets are you running?

nope choke slides fine and i even checked the inside of the carb and it does close. evan at 2 turns out it still isnt right i got it to idle for about 1 min and then it sputtered out when i hit the throttle a few times

but cou8ld it really be jetting when its fouling plugs because its way rich?

a stock jet is only a 230, i dont see how you can be rich with that jetting.. im with the guys, a new plug is the first place to start. if you get a new plug in and it still is fouling plugs mabey you have a bad crank seal letting the tranny oil in the crank case.. i doubt it though, you would have tons of smoke if that was the issue..

good idea noober, it could be drawing in some trans oil.

just put a new plug in it and try that first.

I'm not making fun or anything but, did you put the piston in backwards? I almost did it myself, once and I've heard it can cause some crazy stuff to happen.

there's nothing in the stator side that can leak out unless you're leaking from inside the motor!!!!!!!!! its supposed to be dry in there

well then i could be effed because its deff coming from the left side of the motor when sitting on it. unless could there be a gasket inbetween the two case halfs that could leak?

so if the crank seal is leaking could it cause the motor to run rich and foul plugs? or is there still another problem somewhere

i didnt read teh thread just responding to this quote... yeah man if your crank seals are bad and you are sucking motor oil into your cylinder that will foul the sh*t outta your plugs

do a leak down test. it is always a good idea to perform this after any motor work involving any sealed areas between carb and exhaust. Fouled plug that you are running will foul faster and not work, use a new plug.
second thought piston in backwards will cause your issues of not running right, But if you're positive then maybe need to clean your carb mostly the idle jet. Blow air through it backwards if you can, that will help dislodge any thing in there. If you have to keep pressure on the thumb throttle losen the cable a few turns, ran into that on mine when checking to replace a carb but had the wrong cable. Still have the POS TORS hooked up.
