i have a 1998 and im going to redo the engine i need some advice on some stuff.

have enough money savedup to buy this for the engine:

1.vitos big bore 240 kit
2.vitos +3 stroker kit
3.all new seals and bearings lower end

my question:

can i put this stuff in my engine and run the rest of the engine stock till i get enough money savedup for:
bigger carb
exhaust
performance reeds
performance clutch

this engine is stock right now and is in the need of an overhaul i just figured i would go this route but i want to ride it after i put the vitos parts in it.
would this be possible?

does the engine not have good compression? maybe do exhaust carb reeds stroker and seals, then next time you have money you can do the 240 and get it ported for the stroke.

The 240 and +3 stroker will smoke the factory clutch. You will at the very least need to check your friction and steel plated for thickness and replace your clutch springs with aftermarket ones for more strength. If the fibers and discs are of the right thickness, springs will put more pressure on them and keep them from slipping.

Also, the vito's 240 will not put out much power in the "stock" form as your top end ported out can put out. You don't have to go with an aftermarket cylinder to put out big power. If you do opt for the +3 stroker crank make sure you get whatever top end you have ported to match...

s-dude what would you sugest me doing with the money i have

what i mean if it was you and you wanted to keepup and beat the pants off my nephews 05 that i sold him what would you do to your engine or blaster.
HE HAS A BONE STOCK 05.

i have 800.00 to play with

This issue has been covered a million times but here we go again,

The first step to power is an aftermarket exhaust. For cheap you can get a used FMF or similar. Right bend pipes put out more top end power. Left bend pipes do better low and mid.

You should opt for some aftermarket reeds. Boyesen pro series dual stage are a fine choice and not too pricey.

An aftermarket carb isn't a bad choice but really necessary until you start getting up towards the top end of flow restrictions. (ported 240 with the 3 mil stroker)

For a cheap power boost, remove your airbox lid and rejet for it. Vito's sells a jet kit for cheap with a new needle and an assortment of jets for tuning.

With a good pipe, some reeds, and a jet kit with no airbox lid you should be able to consistenly pull on a factory blaster.

Once you get the basics done, then you can opt for those pricey options like a BBK and stroker.

for 800 i would get a +3 stroker and bearings and seals for the inside of the motor, and get my stock topend ported to match the stroker crank. then a nice exhaust and some reeds. i would take a stroked and ported stock jug over a vitos BBK all day.

yea a unported 240 has nothing on a ported stock cylinder

and there you have it, no sense in working over your motor if you can't flow enough to make any power, ported stroker sounds like the ticket i'd go with, in fact thats my ticket next time i pop this baby, or run into some money, whichever comes first, and with my rebuild almost done my wife is noticing little things that weren't on there before......so i'm thinkin those would be mods she couldn't see, crafty i know

you would probably still need a carb with that set up though. but if you have a good jug to work with you could probably still come in under budget. my thoughts would be. vf3 reeds, 3mil stoker w bearings and seals, ken oconnor or flotech agr trl port to 3 mil stroker. I think ken is less expensive. and keep your eyes open on the forsale tread for exaust and a 30 mil or larger carb. I would get a toomey pipe or a power pros(there are many pipes identical to powerpros, f7 in one) no other pipe is really as nice and affective in my book. that 05 will be left in your dust no problem. but it will probably cost more like $1000. total
