Hi all.

I have a very modded Blaster. Now the thing is it drives crazy.. very fun and fast. But it also make a lot of noise! .. I think it sounds cool, but it is very loud.

I recently joined an ATV "club". And they have a noise restriction of 100db.. X(

They measured mine to a staggering 110db.. :o

It´s a complete Toomey B1 exhaust.I:I

Now the this is what i want to learn more about: FMF "THE Q"! (check link)

Can i swap the rear silencer for this one? Will it fit the toomey front pipe? :-/

AND the big question is! DOES IT WORK ? Does it have a noticeable lower noise level ? Has anyone tried it? They claim its the most quiet 2stroke silencer out there?

But it dosent look any longer than the Toomey rear silencer?

Is it VERY powerrobbing? IS it in fact a very good pipe?

Damn, I forget the name of it but there is this thing you can put on the silencer that supposedly doesn't affect power but lowers the noise....it was in dirt rider or ATV rider or one of those ATV/dirt bike magazines not too long ago.....someone will know the name of it!

I heard that is a bad thing! steelwool..

I think im gonna try it! sorry Toomey.. you´re too loud.. however i dont got the money right now.

But i also think my exhaust is not 100% sealed where it connects to the cylinder.. there is some black residence where the 2 bolts is and where it connects to the flange..

IF i fix that with some exhaust "gum" so its 100% sealed AND install this FMF Q silencer then ill guess that is absolutly the "quiet´st" i can possible get my blaster ...

However BEFORE i buy anything i will try my stock silencer connected to the toomey front pipe. .. see how much that gives in noise lowering... Because the frontpipe is responsible for a lot of the sound..

Thanks

i wouldnt try putting steel wool in the silencer. i dont see why the fmf silencer wouldnt fit. toomey does make things to quiet the exhaust down. losing 10db shouldnt be hard. a spark arrestor may help. even if you got a used sparky off ebay that fits. good luck.

i agree wiht ^^^ however, i would contact toomey and talk with them. i know that they make a sparky and hush kit 3.0 for a banshee. i am pretty sure that the sparky will fit their blaster silencer but am not 100% positive. anyways, since you are overseas i would research this thoroughly before pulling the trigger. that is one of the reasons that i did not want a toomey exhaust for my blaster- their silencer is too small and i do not like the sound of the pipe.

lassek,
i just got off of the phone with toomey and they told me that they do not make a quieter silencer for the blaster. she did tell me that 110db seems really high as they have tested them to be @100 db. she did say that the sparky will not drop the noise and she wanted to know if you have fresh packing in the silencer. she told me that the techs were not in at the moment and if i got a chance to call to call back and they may be able to help. she also gave me an email for you to send questions and comments to and she told me that it goes directly to Stewart the owner of toomey and the one who designs their stuff. here it is: info@toomey.com
i hope that they can help you as it sounds like you are happy with the product. i also told them that their exhaust is far too loud for me to use in the Oregon dunes and that it might be good for them to offer something for this problem. she did tell me that some people have modified the banshee hush kit's to work and that it will quiet a banshee to 87db but it is somewhat expensive for the blaster. however, since it is designed to flow so much more exhaust for the banshee you might not see a decrease in power on a blaster and still be as quiet as a stock blaster. i tried and good luck!

The db snorkel? thats pretty badass, but they don't ship to the uk.

the fmf q should fit it but i am unsure of how much it will lower the sound level. i know that it is considerably quieter than their other silencer and it should do the same for the toomey. for now i would just run the stock silencer.

Ok thanks everybody.. Thats a lot of good info.. however none on the FMF Q. Nobody have it here on the forum ?

yes, i bought one and now it is one my friends daughters blaster. it works great and is definately quieter. this is on an fmf fatty pipe so if you have someone locally that has one you should try it on your blaster and see if it works before you buy it.

use this please when you have the money it doesnt take away any power from your toomey and its from toomey so you know it works for your pipe Toomey Racing Pipe Parts this is the name "NEW! TOOMEY RACING USA Spark Arrestor 3.0" here is wat they say about it

"Toomey Racing has once again made a good design BETTER with the release of our NEW In Hose designed Spark Arrestor Version 3.0.

This system is the ONLY spark arrestor available that does not hurt the power of the Toomey Pipes! POWER is why you HAVE Toomey Pipes!

Now, a whole new mounting system which doesn't clamp on, like before, but is integrated into the silencer with a special CNC machined adaptor which allows quick mounting and easy servicing of the silencer with the simple one step snap-ring installation.

Security is assured because the Spark Arrestor is actually the back part of the silencer, not hose-clamped on. Now you will not scratch your silencers installing the old design and the Feds will love your compliance with USFS approved spark arresting.

Finished in polished satin aluminum with USFS numbers LASER etched in, these new Spark Arrestors are in STOCK for immediate delivery."

if you have read my other posts in this thread i called toomey this morning and they said that the sparky will NOT quiet the sound of the exhaust. it is designed to maintain the preformance of the kit while adding the safety and legality of a spark arrestor so that one can ride on public lands.

well MY bad i was only trying to help I didn't know all of that info

it is not a problem, i try hard to read all previous posts before commenting so that i know if i can add to the conversation. i hope that i did not come over too snappy! I:I that was not my intention- only to let you know that i had already spoken with Toomey Racing and covered all of their products.
