I have had 3 crxs they are my favorite. i have a b16a which i am putting 15 pounds of boost to. it is going to be nice. my blaster is stock but i am working on getting it ready to race in the spring so my crx project is on hold as well.
Whats with Blaster owners and CRXes, sheesh! :"> Anyway, I picked up the quad today. It was a decent deal. It's kinda rough, but I traded 2 subwoofers from where I work for it. They cost me $270 a piece(they retail for way more than that), so I got the Blasty for $540 basically. It's not really all that bad. The brakes suck, but as I mentioned before, I'll be picking up complete Warrior brakes for $100 next week. The upper A arm bushings are shot, so they will be part of my first plan of attack. Other than that, it's just scraped up frame, and non working lights, which I of course planned to remove anyway. My plan is to ride it this Sunday on my day off. Mix up some premix, and enjoy it, then when I use all the gas up, it is getting stripped down to the frame. Gussets will be welded, and provisions for the Raptor nerfs welded in. Then to the powder coater it goes. When I get it back it will get a +3 swing arm, +4 axle, and the +5 Snyder Motorsports A Arms. So basically my Blasty will get plus sized. It will also get some new tires, and wheels. This quad is the inspiration.
My build will incorporate allot of the same parts. Mine will be way less bling though. I am coating the frame black, the A arms will be black, the swinger will be black, the plastics, and the wheels, you guessed it black. There will be some bling, but no day glow colors, I am building it to be rather low key, and evil looking, just black, and polished aluminum, and chrome. Also I read through some rules for the CRA, and I'm waiting for them to call me back so I can ask all my questions. I found out I am limited to 50 width, other than that I am still waiting to hear more rules on the Blaster class.
This quad will be built in stages, and once all this is done, I am going to toss some 450R shocks on it for temp. usage. Then it will get practiced on allot so I can get familiar with the new quad. This will give me time, and money to work on my CRX project, and my Samurai project. Once they are done, it's back to shocks, for stage 2, and then motor build for stage 3, or possibly a swap if rules allow it. I am not sure though, I really like the simplicity of the air cooled 200cc power plant. It might just get bored, and stroked, if allowed by the rules.
