My dodge... On a budget.

sand blast it and youll realy clean the frame.. so even worry about paint untill your geting ready to drive it the frame yes but not so much bodywork

Then I'll build up my dads old 318 while I drive with the 360... Ground up, cam, intake, carb, lifters, heads, rockers, everything. Should be like a 500 hp beast when I finish. Then I'll paint it, and throw it in the beast.

500hp?pssss geting a 1000 hp motor that will run like 110 octane for sled pulling :) and it will be a sunday driver hehe

so its not as much power as you think... my bro now doesnt want the 1000 hp and is going around the 750 hp range and so hell run 93 octane his sh*t is gonna be beast.. our work truck/family truck is a 500+hp duramax..

dualllys are beast but so wide their a pain in the ass to turn around in tight spots thats our family truck is a dualy.. i want stacks but the old man doesnt.. :(

Update I got the bed off and started stripping the frame... Any tips on the factory rubber paint? I'm not sure whether to completely rid of it, or to just smooth it out, what do you all think? I plan on coating it with POR15.

anybody else have an opinion in the matter? It says that por15 practically hooks into the metal, so should the rest of the rubber paint (factory) be sanded completely off or just smoothed out?

if the rubber factory paint is flaking off i would take a wire wheel to it just my thought but i live in wi and my plow truck went to hell in a hurry. so your frame will differ

oh by the way i had open headers running a few inches of pipe on my 89 and beleive me i was heard miles away but be careful how many times u get pulled over.

Thanks guys, yeah I wanna have a practically ground up built truck to drive when I'm 16. A thing of beauty... You know what I'll do, I'll email por15 and ask them! Lol thanks guys.

back to this 500hp 318...... are you saying your going to spend $10,000
dollars on a 318 ? buy a big block and be done with it, and whoever said they were getting 750hp on 93pump gas has lost their mind. a good mild 440 is all you need. or you could find a 12 valve cummins and a 3/4 ton front suspention, and that cummins will bolt right up to a 727m24 trans.

318's are just as nice as a sbc in my opinion, plus I already have it. I have thought of throwing a cummins in it too... If I can get the funds together I want to get this project dodge I've been looking at, same thing just 2wd needs a bed, and a motor (440 six pack?) its painted lime green. If I were to throw a 440 in anything that would be it...
