my 250r rebuild now in progress!

A week or so ago i made the trip up to Denny at Flotek to drop off my 250r.. a few days ago i was told my R's cyl was spotless and i wouldnt need a rebore or even a hone I:I

So heres what im having done right now.

new rings @ 67.25mm
MX port and polish
lightened flywheel
new heavy duty clutch springs
my paul turner exhaust is being sand blasted and repacked.
new boyenseen carbon fiber reeds.
all new jets for the carb.
all new gaskets. head,stator etc.
and tuned.

Im never going to race this thing but it ill be a woods trolling beast.. it took alot for my fellow 450 riders to catch me at 28 or so hp.. wait till im 45ish LOL

So far and this is kind of funny.. Denny pulled the head and found cotton all through the reeds and engine side of the carb.. now were thinking when it was rebuilt the origional owner put cotton in the cyl for storage or for shipping purposes.. and forgot to take it out.. Denny said he was amazed it even ran at all.. the reeds were all gummed up with cotton ahaha.

i will post pics in a few days.. i cant wait till shes done and home.. shes going to rip.. kinda makes me with i didnt buy my 2010 yfz 450x..even though i love the electric start..

looking for a blasty or 400ex for the wife.. the only deal with that is.. if i get the blasty.. i have to spent $$$ on suspension,wider rear axle and a-arms upfront.. she hated my 06 due to it being so roll happy..i figure its nothing +1 or 2 a-arms and +2 rear axle cant help though with some nerfs


i just found new front and rear plastics for 441.. and am looking for bronze hyper wheels and works front shocks.. UNLESS i can find a decent set of trx450r's to put on it.. :D

yea looks to be a nice bike i want 1 of theese so bad i'll trade you my pitbike for it lol jk i luv my pitbike way too much but i suck because of the twist throttle feature
 
well as far as the frame.. its had under carrage guards ( alum ) since 1987. the frame is pretty flawless other then a few chips in the paint near the front bumper.

next year i just might powder coat it.. im thinking red or charcoal grey.. with the blk plastic it would look pretty good..
 
i had an 89 250r for like 2 weeks, got it for a hell of a deal and was still on the original piston, but i found out some one hid all the frame cracks with paint, i was pretty pissed so junked the frame and never got around to buyin a new one, get some full bore plastics and sell the oem plastics on the trx250r forum, those guys are always lookin for the oem plastics and they pay top dollar, thats where i got rid of mine, despite urs being chewed up some one will still buy em im sure

Its done.. and let me be the 1st to tell you.. if you live within 300 miles of Denny and you want quality porting and other work done.. your a f***** moron if you don't take your quad to him personally.

Here's my reasons.. ( sorry denny to put you out there like this )

I had never met Denny before i made the trip.. So i didnt know him from a can of spray paint.. I gave him an idea of what i wanted to do and how much i wanted to spend.. HE NEVER TRIED TO SELL ME ANYTHING AT ANYTIME..

Upfront i wanted porting and lightened flywheel.. i said i wasnt sure what kind of pipe i had but i'd like to clean it up and see what we can do with it.. Turns out its a paul turner and it needed repacked BADLY. said he could do a little this or that if i wanted.. he really listens to what the customer wants in the set up and tells the customer how to obtain a goal your looking for..


He stayed in constant contact with me.. via forums and phone calls to my home.. asking me questions on what i wanted and how progress was coming along..

The prices i wont post or mention but were MORE THEN FAIR FOR WHAT I GOT.. i Dont know what he was thinking when he gave me the overall price.. But it was WELL worth every penny and other companies i went to for quotes were 100s more.. PLUS i couldnt take my bike there in person.. With Denny he'd rather have it that way so there's no question on reassembly and tuning when you go get it.. it's more then dead on..

I went and got it saturday.. let me give you an idea on the difference here..

played around vs a brute force 750 f-i.. in a straight line run.. i rolled him by 11-14 bike lengths by the time i hit 5th.. with a gear to go..and yes i was STILL pulling him in 5th when i let off..

08 suzuki z400 heavily modded.. cammed + other mods.. I biotch slapped his z440 so hard.. his ol lady felt it.. worse beating then i gave the brute force..


my 2010 billy ballance edition yfz450x piped.

my torque jump got me out of the hole but once he hit 4th... he reeled me in so fast and pulled dead even with me..most of the way till my yfz's 3/4 throttle in 5th.. at the top of my power.. i started to pull a little in 5th.. not much.. the 250r never left my rear bumper.. if we had more room to run and we wernt letting off once he peaked 6th.. he might have gotten me..


I wanted to thanks Denny for the time he took in fixing my bike.. new rings,porting and the flywheel mod.. new reeds and other stuff done.. He took good care of it and i cant say enough good things about my experience..

another flotek guy.....but there is no need to put other members in ur sig because they like a certain builder and their products, like me i like ken oconnor and i wont send my work to anyone else just for the customer service, im not going to clog ur thread, or start a war, sounds good, post vids and pics. pm me ur prices for comparison if u want to because i had mine ported and a lightened flywheel also.

So im going to say this as politely as i can..

1) I went to Denny because when i joined here a long time ago ( most likely before you and Ken Both ) i was speaking to him about work i needed for my 2006 blasty.. when i blew it i sold that hunk for nearly twice what i paid for it..
+ He's right up the road from me.. I told him i was coming with the blaster then when i sold it i kept my word and brought the 250r months later..

2) I understand your trying to support Ken O'Conner racing.. Trust me kid.. there's no reason too.. i would have gone to Ken if i hadnt given my word to someone else.. I upfront will say i have nothing against Ken and im looking forward to meeting him at awks ride.. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO START A WAR.. SHUT THE f**ck UP..

3) i think you need to check strokedtater's youtube list of all the bikes hes killed with his FLOTEK blaster.. i know there's a few 250r's and 1 raptor with a YAMAHA R1 street bike engine in HE BEATS + freeks blaster + noobers + countless others on here..

4) If you don't have something positive to say in a thread.. STFU AND MOVE THE F**** ON... DONT CLOG my thread giving advice about what anyone has in their sig.. Thats called trolling..

Love how newer fellas get on here.( your not new i see that now for that i do apologize ). donate a dollar and talk sh*t because their name is green in support of a great forums.. You wouldn't have said anything if you didn't feel my post was threatening your seat on a bandwagon..

Awk and i have been friends for a long time..Note that above said has nothing against you.. I look forward to meeting you july 9th as im bringing a boat load of people with me if its ok..

I spoke of my experience with Dennis @ flotek to finish the thread i started awhile back.. It had nothing to do with you.. Matter of fact i spoke to awk about services and prices through you.. But i canT mail my 250r to you and Denny is a little over an hour away.. + again i told him i was coming with a blaster over a year ago..

Smoker.. you said nothing about my quad and made suggestions..please refrain from posting on any of my future threads..

all boost is simply doing is supporting another builder, not trying to take down another builder, just supporting another builder cause he was closer.

and he just went into detail about how the builder was about the customer and such, that doesnt mean hes taking down or trying to call out another guy, now i like ken oconnor racing as much as the next guy, but i love flotek right behind, and id pick either one.... no wars here
