Well finally got to ride yesterday. And it was short lived
motor died like it ran out of fuel.
Brought it home and tore into it.
finally found a lost screw had got through the Carb and stuck in the reeds. Lucky
put in a different set of reeds from a running bike.
Now all it will do is start, barely idol, and if you touch the throttle it dies.
pulled the stator cover, and spray some parts cleaner and it dies.
when it stuck the Reed would that have sucked the seals.
it was running perfect before this happened.

Where did this screw come from to begin with? It sounds like damaged reeds to me, but if the spare set came from a running Blaster, you can probably rule this possibility out. I'd check the spare set of reeds you put on for gaps and/or cracks. Also check the gaskets for damage, and be sure the carb cap is screwed on tightly.

If the reeds got stuck open, the engine would only bog out and die; there shouldn't be any damage caused to the seals. Unless the engine ingested another screw or foreign object, the bearings and seals should be fine if it was running well before.

The VF3 reed cage once came apart on my Blaster. I had taken the 'stuffer block' out to see if it would run without it. The engine died out and would not restart. As it turned out, the reeds had come off the block and one was stuck in the intake port. I replaced the reeds, learned my lesson, and had no trouble afterwords.

Thanks guys
tore it down
went to hardware store and built a leak down tester
the stator side is gone wont hold air at all
So I guess it time to order parts

Oh ya comp check was 118psi

Had the same problem this weekend. Pulled the reed cage out and the bottom reed was just chillin in the intake port. :o

Haha, nice. Yeah, a reed that comes off or a seal which has blown-out will prevent the engine from pulling a vacuum in the crankcase, and you'll never get any fuel outta the carb.

@rock67, did you check the compression with the throttle held wide-open? 118 is a little weak. The engine should run with that, but it could be stronger. You won't get an accurate reading unless you check it at WOT.

Sounds like its time to change the mag side seal on the engine, then try again. It should run after that.
