LT450R or Z400??

hey guys well since i sold out lol this will be the quad im keeping for a year or two ,
i have in narrowed down to 2 quads
07LT-450R €2100 ,i think he did actually loose the barrel as i was going to look at it last weekend and he had the price at 2300 and never mentioned anything about it ! http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/quads/1940195

i have €2200 ,im afraid the ltr will blow as nearly every 450 here is being sold as its about to blow ,cant trust noone now!! the z400 sat for six months he said it still runs and starts on the button ...its needs a new front light ...and i think if it did sit for 6 months also a good service and battery ....just wondering what you guys think i should do ?

i like those ltz400's they did win bike of the year i beleive at one point. very well balanced bike in my opinion. just be sure and look the bike over well before you give him money.

well i got him to 1950 over the phone ill start nit-picking at stuff and would be happy if i got it for 1800

I'd get the 450 as it's the vastly better and faster machine. The LTRs put out pretty impressive power. Only downside is they are more MX oriented from the factory and wider. You can always play with that though. The Z400 is a fun quad though, plus you have the reverse if you need it on the trails. This is just a matter of classes....the 450 is in another class, but if you need reverse and narrower width, the Z400 is a great trail quad.

Well did you have any issues with riding your YFZ around? If not, then the LTR should be fine. I think I would only go with the Z if I desired reverse and needed the narrower width. The Z is like 3-4 inches narrower than the LTR.

i would go with the 450 bro, better then a z400 anyday and you can do alot of things with a 450 if you really want to. people say 450s can't do alot other then made all out for track or all out for trail but you can do good in between, just add and take away what is needed. but i definitely want pics of whatever you get!

they handle sh*t though , and i imagine they drink alot of juice due to the 700cc engine ?

I've owned and raced/trail both. Ltr def has alot more power, but the ltz is alot more dependable and cheaper in the long run. Its a personal choice.

ltr has tranny issues. Valves were always needing shimmed and a few topends. I did race it hard tho so u may not have issues. the z was gas and go. I put a arms, shocks, exhaust and that was it. Never had a problem. If i was going to just mess around the z is what i would get

z400 is the way to go..get suspension and a 440 kit and do some minor head work, a good full exhaust, and you will smoke a factory ltr no problem and have no reliability issues ever..my kfx400 with 440 kit is still running the oem clutch and its an '04..crazy its got a 123 race hrs on it and the fibers look like they have another 50hrs left on em! gas n go and you will be grinning.. also the ltr is one of the absolute worst choices unless you plan on strictly hitting the track every time you ride.. they were designed to ride mx with nothing else in mind. go on ebay and compare the prices on parts..even used prices on ltr parts double the Z parts
