you cant just take it off till you have a tors removal kit, i have a vito's, but there are others too, but for now you need to reach in from the side and tighten down the big ring that connects it to the carb, just tighten it down really good, you should be able to feel when it hits the rubber gasket, then turn it a little more, to seal off the air gettin in, and yes suckin air there is bad, could cause you to run lean
