Hi, i put a fmf pipe on my blaster not that long ago and all is well.I know the FMF isnt the best exhaust but should i have lost that last spur of energy?.
I know it is a low to mid pipe but i can hold the throttle in all gears pinned untill the engine is screaming like a biotch but the powerband just isnt there anymore.

Is this just how the fmf is?Before i added the pipe it was all okay and the compression is good.

And no silly remarks such as "I have a red one for sale" please lol

Thanks Carl.

im sure i can gain some power with a diferent pipe but my fatty never cost me power.

Damn might be the tuning then.
i will go and run it down the road to do a plug chop and try it with the air-box lid off.

Thanks for your help carl

definitely a jetting issue. when i replaced my rm's pipe from stock to a fmf fatty i actually had to go leaner on my main to get it jetted just perfect.

You need to take the lid off or make a lot of vent holes.. but just take the lid off. . .otherwise it will not perform as it is supposed to..

I have a FMF fatty and PC2 .. i think it rocks.. it pull hard and nice all the way also in top end.. I had a complete Toomey kit before that also kicked a** .. but honestly i think the FMF is keeping very well up with my Toomey..

And oh yeah.. when removing the lid and adding a pipe you absolutly need to put a bigger jet in! very important.. the airbox is very restricted.. so adding a lot more air need more fuel..

how loud is the fmf compared to the toomey?

how loud is the fmf compared to the toomey?

The Toomey is loudest due to very thin metal plate in the header.. it makes a mettalic ping and it has a smaller "stinger" (rear silencer).. but its a nice sound only loud.. the fmf has a more deeper "bass" sound as i like better.. they both perform very well i think.. at least with my setup . ..

They actually say that the FMF should be one of the more "silent" exhaust system to blaster.. it is also more silent but make no mistake still loud when rev´ed on a tuned engine..

You can judge yourself i had both:

TOOMEY:

FMF:

(the engine is more tuned on the fmf movie.. larger carb etc. plus the airfilter is exposed totally due to rebuild on the fmf video, that makes a louder intake sound you may could think was exhaust noise. )

AND I have choke on the fmf video until exactly 1:14 .. then the "real" FMF sound is there.. a little higher note .. check it out..

okay i have just come back from doing a plug chop. The plug came out a blackish/brownish colour but not the normal pancake colour. so it may be a little rich.
I couldnt risk taking the airbox lid off as at the moment we have a lot of snow over here.

I am running a 260 main jet so maybe i would need something like a 240/250?

thanks carl

You should be around 260-270 for the main, I personally think the fmf is more of a low-mid range(ish) pipe it has a small spot were it makes its power then pulls for awhile and dies off. But on the other hand you should have noticed a large differance over stock. What clip is you needle set on?

Okay so my main is around right, yes i know its a low to mid range pipe and yes it is a hell of alot better over stock.

I will have to check what clip the needle is set on. i know that it is on stock setings but just with a 260 main jet

thanks carl

Hey you know.. Its acutally very hard for anything other than a little dust over time to enter the airbox .. I personally think you should try to do it.. (remove the lid to see what results you get!) The seat will act as a cover for foreign objects like stones, snow even mud and other kinds of debris..

thanks man cool! :. I can let you in on a little secret.. My Blaster is almost ready to be assembled..I been off a while on the forum but my frame and most metal parts are at the professional powdercoat as we speak.. I will make my best video yet when it all comes together and i present the unveiling.. .. I am very excited myself! havent even seen the results yet.. but the engine is full ready even further tweaked with some goodies.. Its gonna be wild.. also the design and colors on the blaster (i hope :D)

you should remove your airbox and put a outerwears cover in and a k'n filter and a pre-filter, as for the poipe, as said before they're not the best pip,e but they are much better than stock, i personally want a power pro's in place of my fmf.
