I just got a basket case and not sure how to tell what size bore it is and also how to tell if it needs bored or if its ok. Can any one give me some pointers. Thanks.:-/
Do you have a machine shop in your area? If not you may want to send it out to one of the builders here and they will be able to tell you what you need.
You can start off by posting some good pics of the inside of the cylinder. We can give advice on it's condition. If it looks like it needs to be bored, you can look for a good local shop or ship it to a builder on here. The builder will tell you what size piston you will need. Make sure to use factory Yamaha gaskets.

If you take your cylinder off and either post some pics or just post the numbers that are on the top of the piston we can let you know what size it is. Also I would do.a compression test to see what kind of psi your working with
a oversize/robored cylinder will have the size stamped on the piston crown, it should say its size, if its stock it will not have this. scratch the old carbon off and have a look
