My piston is old and got fried. Time to buy a new one. I've been seeing a lot of the Namura pistons on ebay and I'm looking for any information on them. Are they any good or should I stick with wiseco. I could buy two namura for the price of one wiseco maybe I can change pistons more often just for the hell of it. The difference between the Namura and Weisco pistons is that the Namura is cast and Weisco is forged.

If cash is in short supply, go with the Namura, it will give you excellent service providing the lubrication and jetting is correct.

If you intend giving the motor a hard time, then the Weisco could the better choice.

I would be looking at why the old piston fried, was the carby jetted incorrectly, or was it suffering an air leak.

Before buying a new piston, have the jug measured to see if it is still within specs.

I had experience with both cast and forged , Cast tend to break at the intake skirt area , Heard nothing bad about Wiseco Except the Price , But it's worth it if you ride hard !

Read this... See what "Best" also has to say about cast pistons....

If not properly warmed up before riding ,a wiseco can give you problems too. It can swell up in the bore and "four corner" seize. Thats why properly warming up the engine is important. I know that a cast piston tends to stay more "round" in the piston skirt area more than a forged piston does, and is quieter than a forged piston. I've seen a few wiseco's crack in the piston window area too just like a cast piston. I believe that with proper piston to cylinder clearance, and proper warming up of the engine before riding is important to any piston. However I believe that is even more important for a forged piston. Inspection and maintenance is just as important.

Thanks everyone for the great information. I think I will stick with the Weisco cause I ride hard on the bike and don't stop alot to let the piston cool down.I did get lucky with my cylinder , when my piston ring spun around and caught the exhaust port it didn't do any damage. The odds of that is 0ne in whos know a million. Anyway I'm looking to replace the piston but don't know how to measure for a new one. I'm thinking of bringing it to the dealer unless its easy to do.

my 2 cents...

I ran a Namura in my 06 blaster and I beat the ever-living sh*t out of that thing, never ever had a single issue with the piston breaking, and still had 162psi after many hours of me dogging it

I'd run one if you're trying to save some cash
