If I can't figure it out tonight she going to the dealer.... When I start it it will run then it sounds like air backfiring in the engine and it stops. Runs hot but plug color looks good. No throttle at all revs a little but in gear if you floor it it barely moves. I checked the compression and got 125 but what is the proper way to check it? Turn the motor over once or kick it like your starting it? Could it be electrical?

probably jetting man. maybe your main jet is clogged. take your carb off, take apart and clean it will with carb cleaner and check your main jet make sure its not clogged. that will probably be it. also clean your air filter.

could also be jetted too rich.

yeah, that was one of the problems with mine, except it was the pilot, put a new one in, and fixed my choke problem its good to go.

yeah u want to kick it over just as if you where starting it to do the compression test! but i agree its probally gonna be a carb issue, and id avoid the dealer at all cost unless ur trying to stimulate the economy a lil! lol

I just had the same problems today, I took the carb off, took off the bowl and cleaned with Carb and Choke cleaner...put it back together and runs great now...good luck!

Sounds like your carb slide is in wrong. Gotta make sure the slot on the side of the slide lines up with the pin that sticks out in the carb. Almost garuntee thats your prob. Idle jet might be off as well.

Check out my post in the DIY section on carb cleaning.

The carb is brand new. In hope of fixing the original problem which I'm still having I bought new reeds, carb, and exhaust. I'm going to the garage right now to run another compression test.

Yep, I also just went through this. Chances are you have some mung or bad gas cloggin up your carb. Take it off, drain out the gas and go sit somewhere with plenty of light and a good working surface (i like my kitchen table) disassemble clean reassemble. Just because the carbs new doesn't mean you didn't have something in your tank or fuel line that made its way into the bowl to bum up your works. YAY I posted!
