Keihin PJ 34 Settings? .. advice?

Hi all.

I am currently awainting my carb.. its on its way from the UK. So its not pre-configured for anything.. They only sell carb´s..

I just want to be prepared.. How many settings are required other than:

Mainjet
Idle
Airscrew
Needle clip?

Thats is what I need guide for.. the needle clip ?

What is the most common setting ? What do you think I should set it for ?

I have ordered jet in size: 145, 150, 155 and the default that is coming with it.. 125 ?

Also the Toomey kit recommend 3/4 turn in airscrew should i still run with that or the 1 1/2 turn that is "default"..


I have Vito stroker crank
Mild port with 68mm Wiseco
Head modded and milled
Complete Toomey B1
V-Force3 Reeds..
Airbox lid on, but with 12 vents..

Can anyone advice in the needle clip? I will figure out the mainjet and air and idle..

But i am a little unsure with this clip setting?


I know there are other guides.. but they are like 10pages! .. I just want to know the setting from another PJ user..
 
You adjust the idle with the choke valve. You will see it when you get the carb.

Stock Main jet on a PJ is a 152, needle clip in the middle and Pilot jet is a 55.

Start with the air/fuel screw 1 1/2 turns out. You should not need to touch it after that. Then work til you get your pilot jet right....The stock 55 should work great and then go to the main jet. Jet it as close as you can without moving the needle clip and then move the clip as a last resort.

With you mods I am thinking that you should be around a 145- 148 Main.

I am assuming that this is the 34mm PJ right? Because that is what I just gave you specs on.

Thanks for the answer, yes this is a PJ 34. I have actually put a 155 mainjet in now, but the carb is not installed atall.. so maybe I will take it out again and put a 150 in ? I have 145, 150, 152, 155 mainjets at my disposal....

So i just leave all other settings as stock but adjust air and idle..

This is properly a very dumb question, but what is the pilot jet 55?

I thought there was only one jet? I only have mainjets for spare? no other jets?

And cCfab.. Will you still recommened air 1 1/2 instead of Toomey setting 3/4 ? that is maybe only valid with stock carb and Toomey 310 jet.?
 
Start fat on main jet. I know there is jetting tuning guide on the forum here, even if you have to read ten pages. Gotta realize you probably just got off work, we're just waking up lol. Sweden/US=12 hr diff. Burned down son's blast, thought I was close (30*F) prob zero, WFO 6th gear on lake=oops! Fat Bastard only mod.
 
Youre were absolutly right! :-) Im am exhausted and i work in front of a screen ... so i just couldnt read all that! :-)

Ill just try the biggest i got and work my way down if its not runing properly.
